Well, I am wondering if I would be buying a Iphone 3G. It is actually cheap since it is second hand and in very good condition. My question is, is it still a good buy? Please help me.

I own an iPhone 3G. My iPhone is jailbroken. That is the only reason I would see anybody buying one today. The 3G has been left out of the Apple family firmware updates as of 4.3 which is out now in beta if I am not mistaken. So, unless you are to jailbreak your device, try and get the iPhone 3Gs, it'll be worth it in the long run(well, at least if you're not going to jailbreak and want to enjoy the firmware updates). If you do decide to buy the 3G(a good idea if jailbroken) let me know if you have any question regarding it or the jailbreaking process, as I have a side business doing just that. ;P

Well to be honest, I would prefer to buy a Iphone 4 but I would be out of my economy range. Since, I am also saving up for a new laptop since my old laptop which lasted for 3 years is now ending its life. Well, I do plan to have the 3G Jailbroken. I know it is a second hand phone but it is in good condition so it would be nice to have as well. Then, though if I do opt to buy an Iphone 3GS or Iphone 4 it would be a whole lot more expensive so I would end up saving for a new one or second hand one and have zero funds left for a laptop.

Well true. Most of the time, I can get a good deal if I won't be much of a picky person though. Thank you.

Go for the 3G then. If you have the jailbroken 3G and a new laptop, thats a pretty good scenario there. ;P haha.

Ok, the 3g is gonna get shut out by the next (major) firmware update, as apple did to the Iphone 2g and Itough 1g. So, forget it, maybe get a 3g, if you can a 4g. Or just wait till the 5g, which should be better than ever. So in my opinion, its not worth the cash buying a device without any more system updates.

Well for one, this is my dilemma. A 4G is pretty good but a whole lot far from my budget. By the way, would it be really 100% necessary for updates all the time?

The iPhone 3g is still a fantastic buy in my opinion. This is because it does exactly the same as the 3gs - its only supposed to be a little slower, but me and my father found their speed exactly the same. (He owned a 3g and I a 3gs). Obviously if the iPhone 4 is a little out of your range then 3g over 3gs is better just because of the cost effectiveness.

Well, I would get the Iphone 3G cheaper compared to the second hand or used market price of Iphone 3G at the moment. Say if the price is around 12,000 secondhand I would get the phone around 6000. What do you think?
