what do like in a song? its melody or the lyrics itself?

At first i like the songs melody. Then something else. Melody can touch our heart. And we continue to listen a songs when we like the melody. And before the listen i should like the songs. That's why i prefer melody first.

I also prefer the melody at first-- if it makes me want to move with it the first time I just heard it then I'd definitely love it. The lyrics are the next thing I listen to. And then I'll memorize it.

Greetings! I prefer the tune but sometimes I like a song though I don't like the tune because of the lyrics. Sometimes, when I like the tune, I like the song already though I don't like the lyrics. I enjoy the music because of its tune. :) The lyrics? Well, for me its important also especially when I can feel the message of the song. :)

Definitely the melody, because it reaches me at a purely emotional level. Also, I'm really bad at remembering song lyrics, and many of them are quite bad. Actually things like the instruments used, the singer's voice, the arrangements and production often matter more to me than the lyrics. I suppose some of the songs I like have awful lyrics, so if I stopped to think about them I'd end up hating the song instead. On the other hand, I'm a big fan of musicians like Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan - and that's mostly because of the lyrics. So, I'm confused...:D. I guess I listen "differently" to different types of music.

I like both, lyrics and melodies. Both are really important parts of a song. If a song doesn't have a good melody, but good lyrics, is like the song is incomplete. In the other hand, there are some songs that sound really good, but the lyrics are simple. What I first look for in a song is the melody, the genre, and most of the time, songs I like the melody have also lyrics that I like.

i really like listening to a song and the meaning of it.,it inspires us.listening to music depends in our mood sometimes we like love songs,sometimes fast songs,some of us relay their lives into a song.

I prefer both, but to me, it's the lyrics that gives more impact on me. It's something that I could relate to, and touch my emotions, make me feel happy or sad. On the other hand, the melody alone could give more life in a song, and that's what makes it wonderful music if both the melody and lyrics go together perfectly.
