USB Imation lock purpose?

I just received a USB 4GB from Globe Telecom. I redeem it from them last December 31,2010. I just received it last January 20, 2010. But its only today when I opened it. I though it just simply a USB.
I plug in to my PC and I saw two items inside. Imation Lock and Manual. I already read the Manual still I can't understand what they are like to say.
What is the important of Imation Lock. I was able to trasport to my imation USB with no sweat. What's the purpose of this? Can I just delete it?

Read Pages 7, 8 & 9 pf your manual. On page 9 is states "If you typed in the wrong password for the sixth time, your device will be re-formatted automatically and all data in the secure partition will be erased from the device. The capacity of the secure partition will appear on the screen after successfully re-formatting. " Of course you will no longer have the protection of the lock, but I think you can re-download the lock software off the net.

I've NEVER used this software, but it came up in my search...just in case you want to set your own password after the reformat!!! I swear they write the manual in Greek!!!

all data in the secure partition will be erased from the device So YES that info will be lost unless you can copy it to your computer until after the reformat. Was there nothing with the instructions telling you what the temporary password is??? There should be a preset temporary password that you can change to your chosen password.

Hi there syoti20!!!
I think this piece of software that is included in your usb is a software that will enable you to secure your files within your usb.Before I have an 8 gb imation usb and as far as I remember that software is also included inside the usb.
I used it a couple of times but decided to remove it coz I forgot the password for the security.This software will ask you give password to be able to access the files that you put on the secured folder inside the usb if I am not mistaken.
I think you can just delete this software if its not really necessary for you to secure your files inside the usb.But you can also try using it.
