In English the word 'pariah' means an outcast or someone who is despised or rejected. 'Scum' is a slang word meaning 'the lowest of the low'. Whereas 'pariah' is used of someone who may be an outcast for many reasons, 'scum' usually refers to someone with particularly low morals.
