Our company often holds a small party at the end of the year to review works over the past year. Also, this is the opportunity for people to meet or discuss with each other. On this occasion, the company held a lucky draw. Lucky person will win some prizes. It's very fun. But then, people often controversial. I think just due to jealousy. But this really makes the management headaches and loss of pleasure. We should continue this form the following year? Or we should change it to another form?

I don't know much about your company, friend. But I think you need to think something to change the old practice. Because as a company...it should be think innovation yearly or even bimonthly

Well, it should be change. Because you cannot succeed when people around are only think about money. People in your company should think about the vision and future of the company..if they contribute more and company will succeed. It earn more money and they are benefited about it... If they only think about money. They only work what the company needs and they never contribute what is good to the company to grow...

Do you mean that we should change the expression form? Because all people like money, only money!

If it is just a raffle I can't see why anyone would get jealous. Do they think someone is cheating? Maybe the management could give smaller and more prizes. That way most people would get a prize and end the jealousy.

In fact that we looked for many ways to express the raffle clearly. But we can't still avoid the pieces of slander. We only want to get fun. Now, we get controversy. It's bad!

Raffle draws are common in Christmas or year-end parties. It's actually a gesture of goodwill from the management to be giving away prizes to some lucky employees. What do the raffle draws become controversial? In what way? Do the employees think cheating occurs? I think it's rather immature for people to be jealous of a raffle draw winner. It's a game and there will be winners and losers. People with such attitude about a game are probably not good to keep in a company.

Almost people think like you. But some of certain ones don't think so or they deliberately to do that. Maybe we should change prizes from money to gifts. Do you think that this will be better?

Hi tkonlinevn, If it affects people and the team spirit in the organization, then perhaps it's better to change it, seems it's just a minor thing and it's better to scrap it than to risk problems in the office. On the other hand, maybe the management can reduce the value of the prizes, and hand out more of them? I assume people are jealous of the winners because the winnings are significant; if the prizes were just small things - pens, notebooks, calendars etc., people could still have fun and stop worrying about who won.

Thank you for your response. Your idea is a way to make the party is better. I'll say to director board about this on the next time. My boss said that the prizes should be money in order that winners can have more to spend in the holiday. But I think we should change it...
