Domodedovo Airport, in Moscow was bombed today. 30 people were killed and over 100 injured. It's kind of weird thinking that, if this was the 80s, and the "cold war" went differently, we could have been part of the attack... and it wouldn't have been terrorism, it would have just been "an escalation of the cold war". In college (after the cold war was over), one of my good friends was a guy from Moscow. He had been in the Soviet Army at the same time I was in the US Army... we joked that the basis of our friendship was, we were trained to kill each other. I always wondered what it would be like to meet a Republican Guard vet of Desert Storm.

And I always wondered if my German relatives on the one side were killing off my Jewish relatives on the other side....

hi ted yes I think you are right, It is interesting to realize you and your Russian friend might have been mortal enemies and it shows we all are human beings under all the crap of wars .yep you were both trained to kill each other, I imagine it might be the same for you and a Republican Guard vet of Desert Storm you would both be human beings first then vets so you would have things in common in spite of any differences. Just my own elderly woman view point. lol lol.

That's a very interesting observation, Ted, and I think you're right. About the terror attack in Moscow, I mean. I think it's also neat that you formed a friendship with someone who could very well have been your mortal enemy for no good personal reason. I've always thought about how people are people and how despite our differences, we have more in common than not even with those we're supposed to be "at war" with. Annie

Who do you think is most likely to do this, as far as I know Russian have no quarrel with middle eastern countries at this moment but there is still friction with United States and Georgia. What are the current enemies of Russia at this moment?

Hi ParaTed, you're back ... hopefully, this means that you're feeling much better. A Reuters report indicates that Russia's Putin vows retribution against a suspected Chechnya terrorist group ... that no group has taken credit for this awful bombing. You said .."I always wondered what it would be like to meet a Republican Guard vet of Desert Storm." Care to be more specific?
