Google auto-fill

My friend pointed out to me that if you type into google 'How to legally kill a' it automatically shows up with 'black person'. This is absolutely horrific! Does anyone know how Google's auto-fill works? Does this mean that this sentence has been searched for so many times that this is what comes up first? I was absolutely shocked and sickened.

That is absolutely shocking and disgusting I know but not surprising unfortunately. I guess the Internet is a mirror to the world and although I am naive enough to believe there is more good than bad in it there is still a lot of evil and the net is a reflection of what goes on in our world. We can only hope for positive changes…

I did as you did and 'black person' wasn't the first one to come up but it was in the list of them along with 'women' and I found it to be just as appalling as you did but I'm not in the least bit surprised because of how our world had become so crupt. It makes me wonder how much worse can it get? We certainly need to turn things around and quickly but, how?

First of all, let me say I HATE auto fill. This is just one reason why. It is very annoying. Your experience is sickening. That is a sad state of affairs when that is what is searched most.

I tried it after I read your discussion in my inbox, and the first link to come up was a site that defines what a 'legal kill' is. The second link was how to kill a woman! The third was a link to a site about the story of the killings of Blacks in the south during the heyday of the Klu Klux Klan. I'm no expert, but I would think that the lineup that appears when you search through any browser for a specific link, depends on the number of similar searches being done at the same time, so the line up will change according to the greatest number of hits a particular website gets after a search. JMO. Still and all, I agree with you that what you experienced is indeed horrific.

I guess that's how it's gonna be for them. There had been movies about black people gunning each other down, rioting, etc.. I guess a part of those films is true. I don't want to stereotype though. There are black people who are okay to get along with coz I had hung out with some during college. I had foreign students who are blacks and they said that racism and stereotyping are being claimed to be over but it's not really over. He said they still get dissed from time to time.

Really? That is absolutely horrible! I had no idea, and I really do not know who would want to search for such a thing!
