It all depends on the purpose you want to have your computer. Now a days there a many advanced processor available in the market but in case of all those parts you should choose the best brand available and with a effort able price.

My last two desktops are actually assembled type. I prefer this because i can freely choose what to put inside.I dont buy the package which commonly are branded but instead according to the specs that i prefer.

If you are just working on line typing then you don't need that computer that is very high end. Most of the new computers will do the job. However, if you are using for video editing, graphics design then you will need much higher grade computer. Also what is your requirements in terms of the type of your websites you are working on? If you don't need flash then iPad might be one of the choices especially if you also storing everything online. If you want to use Windows 7, then 4 G is recommended. I am using a netbook with Windows 7 starter (this can only support 2 G RAM but screen is a bit small but highly portable.

I read your other reply on assembling your own desktop. I used to do that but found it a challenge to obtain all the right drivers should I need to reformat and reinstall the computer (as in when the OS gets corrupted. Nowadays I get ready assembled branded computers since they provide the recovery disk. You did not mention if you use Windows or other kind of OS. The latest hardware have quad core and support multicpu. 4 Gig memory is minimal but if you have the budget, go for 8 Gig and install 64 bit. It is faster and more reliable.

For the best price and power I would go with the following: - 4 gigs of DDR3 ram - Cheap video card (unless you play games or edit movies or whatnot, then go for a more higher end one) - SSD hybrid hard drive (part solid state, part normal hard drive) OR 32 gig solid state (put the OS and all your programs there) and 500 gig normal hard drive. - Intel I5 processor - Compatible motherboard. If you get a motherboard with 4 ram slots, itl let you upgrade to 8 gigs in the future which will be a welcomed boost in 1.5-2 years
