Either Aircon or not! I was about to take a shower when i saw this news. Apparently, the person hid it under the chair and there, the explosion took place. seventeen were injured and two are DEAD. It's very sad that this happened but not in the center of the Business district We all know this is part of life since we got rebels and terrorist in this country. this is not surprising. I advice every Filipino who travels through BUS, always check the security if you're going to ride in the Bus station. i believe the driver was arrested? Terrorist are everywhere, i think no one is safe. this happened along edsa i think near Buendia or Makati Station of MRT. and wow! father and son binay politicians were at the scene. are they really needed there? I wonder. for more information... not a referral link. http://www.gmanews.tv/story/211427/2-killed-17-others-hurt-in-makati-bus-explosion

Hello dawn, That's even worse, I didn't even consider Moscow would have that kind of attack though. Terrorist are everywhere and we all have to be careful with the places we go to. At least have our phones ready to see some suspecious people around. We never know what might strike us, unfortunately, phones can be a relative bomb as well.

This 1s horrible, to think my daughter commutes daily by riding a bus. This will make parents like me to be nervous and wary each time children leave the house for work or school. Again, the question is" General, what's happening to our country?"

Hello EdnaReyes, I think you should remind you're daughter to be careful, if there is a bus station near by i think she should ride there instead because of the security check ups. well, proverty and corruption leads to everything, specially when it comes to deterioration of almost everything.

Hi LK! I think, whatever transportation or common carrier we ride to, there's always a risk whether a jeepney, bus, or cab. I think, the incident is another blast that the government has to give priority of. No one is exempted with such risk because terrorists don't choose its targets.

That's what we need. Time and again, the incident was not the first time to happen and it seems like authorities only take actions when something happens then after some time, back to the usual. Yes, it has to be the bus company's responsibility to be strict on checking every passenger's luggage. Security and safety should not be done only during peak season.
• Philippines
25 Jan 11
Hello Maean Well, they do, it's just that everything that they believed lack security is a TARGETi think cops should consider checking the passengers luggage. or simply if it's in the bus station their baggage should be checked before going in the bus station. we lack men in the force, that will take time yet again.

Okay...I'll put that in mind. I heard there was another accident happened in Makati. That's a bit frustrating. Though both accidents weren't connected, it's possible that it was caused by passiveness and carelessness.

Hello else, better check on the security checking of the guards if you don't see them being strict with the strip search or hold here and there and check baggages then you have the right to be afraid. usually, tight security check results to very long lines that angers the passengerswhen that happens i can be sure bombers won't do such

Hello Jaiho sis Well, Okay Mayor Binay should be there but the VP too? i guess he wasn't doing that much until he saw this scene. i do hope they visit the victims too. Shouldn't he be doing something else important too am sure the mayor can handle it. well, binay seemed to have some sort of territorial rights there but i do hope they do something productive in stopping this latest terrorist attack.

The Vice-President and the Mayor was there (father & son) pretty fast huh? Probably for the photo ops?. Well I just wish that the government is as fast in resolving this crime ,finding and punishing the perpetrators.

Well both of them are residents of the area where the bombing took place. So that figures how fast they arrived at the crime scene. As for the purpose I really don't know. Are they making an assessment of the situation? What for? They are not investigators! Base on observation, it has been a habit of politicians in my country to be there when disaster strikes as if they could immediately do something about the situation.

Hello flowerchilde, I agree since it's new year first bombing this 2011 I think it's best that people should refrain from taking the bus or jeep. There aren't much people to have a guard on the public transports system. The only possible security check up that I can recall is in the bus station unless the cops puts up a post that stops every bus for check up. Some bus drivers runs away because most have illegal permits or violation of the coding law. Have a nice day.

I think this terrorist found a soft spot again on the security and found that was a perfect opportunity to create havoc in the present administration. I think now that they were successful in creating this bombing expect that they would strike another one in the near future. That is if the military is lax in trying to get this bombers before they strike another one.

i saw the news too and i felt really sad for our country, feels like there is no more good news anymore, with our economy dwindling endlessly we really need to have good investors but how can they trust going here if they thing our country is not safe anymore. i hope terrorist or criminals will stop killing people and instead do something for the betterment of our economy.

Hello Djmarion, This is the first time I have encountered you here in mylot :D. hope you don't mind adding you here. Yeah, be extra careful since there's no actual security or people checking on the buses. Except when the ticketer checks below the chairs but she or he can't do that if there's a lot of passengers in the area.be careful as well. Am sure they are successfula nd they will do this again unless every bus has a security guard. Have a nice day.

LetranKnight25, This is just horrendous and I have to say that this is not going to do your country any favor here. Sad to say but civil peace and safety is being mixed up with politics which should not be. I hope that the enforcements will not be caught up with the siding game and start stepping up their vigilance before more lives are lost. Terrorism is rampant and prevalent, Philippines is not excluded here.

Hello Skysuccess, Now the Opposition is taking the opportunity to blame the president because instead of being ready, Pnoy reacted negatively to the travel advisory that was given to them last year. i believe this was retaliation of the Muslim Islamic front for having their commander captured by the Armed forces. right now, Marshial cops are being sent to patrol busses, which is a good measure.

This reminds me of the Rizal bombing in 2000 where 22 were killed and a hundred more where injured. What do this people get for causing these crimes? I often ride the MRT or the bus on my way to work somehow you really get affected with news like this. I can only pray and hope that the bus I am riding is bomb-free. When will our public transportation ever be safe?
• Philippines
25 Jan 11
Hello sweetpea. That event was the worst bombing that i know and i can truly blame the management and security forces for failing to implement proper security check up on the passengers.unfortunately, unless there is some one checking the bag who enters the bus, there will be another possibility of a BUS BOMB

I don't think they could find time to do that. The main focus of many bus drivers and conductors is to get as many passengers as they can. In fact, they say you would still have a seat even if the bus is already full. The reason behind this is because they don't have a fixed salary, they are commission based. So the more passengers they have, the larger their take-home pay for the day. So what the police is saying, is people should be vigilant in informing the conductors or inspectors if they find anything suspicious. They are also suggesting to install CCTV cameras in buses. With this incident, I hope public safety in public transportation would improve.

All i can notice, is since the start of 2011, a lot of heinous crimes including that have happened! I am quite afraid for my daughter studying in UP Manila, hearing those heinous crimes. I keep on praying more often for her to be given much more protection by God , now that criminality has been so rampant. How i wish the government should beef up those peace keeping forces in Manila ; they be in 24/7 schedules and that those crimes be now not bailable! How i wish those criminals be punished severely for all their crimes and their cases be expedited so that they could be meted out the due punishment!
• Philippines
25 Jan 11
Hello Simply, Criminality has been rampant for the longest of time. if they have force that numbers in millions and not mere hundreds of thousands, that's possible but we lack man power in the force. i noticed these because it's hard a few people protecting the entire city even if we already have other investigating areas besides the PNP alone.and some people in the force use their training for bad reasons too.

Noynoy Aquino went there too, as if he is also needed there. He can just order the PNP to do the investigation and stay at Malacanang to ensure that if there is another emergency, he is at the command center. Nice advice LetranKnight. I always ride buses everyday. I try to be vigilant to avoid snatchers, hold-uppers, and thieves. Now, I have to be vigilant for terrorists and bombs. Tsk tsk tsk.

I was not able to watch the news about this but I heard from my colleagues at work. This makes me feel worried because the bus is one of the most common means of transportation in the country. Terrorism or not bus drivers and operators should implement double security. I just hope that our police department will continue to have the strength and wisdom to pursue crimes that are happening in the country.

hi letran wow that is scary. those kinds of things rarelyhappened here in the US. ut many years back I was on the bus going to the University to take my Latin finals, we suddenly stopped and the driver pulled the bus to the side of the road. He told us to all get off the bus in order and soon another bus would be there to take us to the U. meanwhile three police cars and a bomb squad pulled up in front of t he bus.As we were loaded onto the new bus the bomb squad men were going over the parked bus. I saw the item later in the paper that it was a hoax and no bomb was found. all that excitement and fear did not help me in taking my latin final. I got there ten minutes late and had to take my final in a alcove away from everyone. I flunked the darned final but I managed to graduate with a b average so not too bad for a woman of 56. I am so sorry that things like that do really happen in the Philippines and kill so many innocent people. what on earth drives these terrorists to kill innocent people more islamic terrorism and trying to force all of us to their damnable religion?
• Philippines
26 Jan 11
Hello hatley, well, at least you didn't get killed and still took you're final exam and you graduated too. It's common since the area is part of the capital in the country due to many workers there and huge buildings. I hate to say it but misguided people are taking it too far, but we can't assume here who did it. People are confused with what's happening lately.

I was also horrified upon hearing the news about what had happened. It is so sad to think that there are people who are heartless and cold-blooded. But the saddest part is that this situation might hit us or our loved ones in the years to come, we don't really know what might happen. I mean it is so distressing to think that we are not safe anymore. Hope the perpetrators of this horrible crime will be captured and jailed soon. My great sympathy to the victims. Oh Lord makes us safe all the time. I am living here in Davao and so far we are truly safe as the place is so peaceful and free from terrorist attack but still we always take precautions because we never know exactly the move of the terrorists.

Hi, Knight. How's the tooth?. I heard of the news from hubby who was out somewhere in Makati the time it happened. Jesus.... good thing he broke the news to me when he got home because if he did tell me and was still out there, I'll be too paranoid asking him not to take the bus. Terrorism is back, I guess. Former PGMA did try her best to eliminate it but he failed to, however, I think she was able to control it for even just a bit. I wonder how our current president will deal with it? The Binays should be there, though they can't seem to do anything about it.But, since it is their territory, they should oversee what's has been done and perhaps, d something about it. But, how? Heck, I'm not sure... We're not safe, you and me, everyone. Tsk....

26 Jan 11
Hello Eurekafemme, Yes, it's better if he avoid taking bus for now since the security there isn't as tight as the ones in the MRT now, unless the security guard lacks active in his bag security again. As of now, you're hubby should remain vigilant in these times. Well, the mayor is alright being there, am not so sure about the Vice President though. I think there should be more cops in the next coming years, we have lost a lot (some kick out of the force). Be careful too. Have a nice day.

Hi Letran! I too have seen this news and it's really alarming and scary! My son is always out for work and I'm so worried about it.I know we can never tell when is this going to happen again and we can never always look out for a bomb in a transportation we are going to ride. It's just very frustrating to know that these terrorist are still on with their wrong doings, sigh! With regards to the Binays,as expected, lol!

Hello guanlao, Just look on the security check ups on bus stations but of course there is no certain when strictness that is when you start doubting it. but am sure after what happened, the security in the train station will be tough. it's impossible to check every baggage in the vehicles, cops will have lack of men for that.as for the binays, still like claiming makati is their territory, LOLZ.
