In 2009, Samuel Eto'o was transferred from Barcelona to Inter Milan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic went the other way from Inter to Barcelona. Since there trade Eto'o has won the Champions League and Ibrahimovic has had an alright season (last year) and a great season (this year). Here are the stats for all competitions since they have been traded for each other. Eto'o - 42 goals in 71 appearances Ibrahimovic - 39 goals in 67 appearances The numbers are almost identical though Samuel has played in a few more games than Zlatan.

If Barcelona wouldn't have done this transfer, then I think they would have won the Champions League last season as well. Zlatan hasn't integrated in the system of Barcelona and his performances were not so convincing. At Milan, he seems to be better, and Milan has a great chance of winning the Scudetto. As for Eto'o, he is fantastic, a one of a kind player, who has won everything during his career. If I would be a trainer, I would pick him and not Ibra, because Eto'o is a nicer guy, I think and he is tactically more disciplined.

I agree Eto'o is more disciplined and a better player but I think Ibrahimovic, had he and Pep Guardiola gotten along, would be their center forward this year and I think him and Eto'o would have similar numbers for this year.

ibrahimovic has had a better season this year, while eto'o had a better season last year. for barcelona, ibrahimovic did not do well and did not perform to expectations, while eto'o did really well with inter. this year, both have had good seasons but ibrahimovic has just been tearing it up with ac milan, getting 11 goals already and is one of my favorites to win the italian golden boot. their success this season can also be seen in their team's standings- ac milan is first while inter is a few places back.

I would pick Eto'o as the bigger bargain simply because of the returns that Inter has had. They have had their best season ever last season where they won every thing. Though the goals are identical, it is more the opposition against which these goals were scored and also the contribution to the link up play that was really effective. On these fronts, I think Eto'o is a better player than Ibrahamovic. Cheers! Ram

Trophy wise, it is definitely better for Eto'o. But in terms of overall success, I tend to think Ibrahimovic had the better deal. I am not a keen follower of the serie a but from the little information I had, Ibrahimovic is spearheading the Milan attack and done so with certain distinction. Meanwhile, Inter was on a downfall until the appointment of Rafa.

Eto has been the better player. He enjoyed success at Barca, then at Inter. Ibra did not enjoy success at Barca, but has managed it now at Milan. The swap deal that took place rated Ibra at a higher value and certainly he did not prove of that value. So, Eto was a good deal for Inter.
