Should the teens wait until 18 to allow to drive?

My nephew just counting on the days to get his driver's license. He is 15 and half, and until summer, he is officially 16 years old, and he will get his permit first, then he will go through the driving test. He is definitely longing for it. It might be different from state to state, but I think he should wait until 18 to be allowed to drive. He is good driver no doubt, by practice we knew he has good natural driving skill. By he is still young, my sister would worry about him on the road and driving too fast. Not only that, my sister might have to buy him a car, and the insurance might be too costly with his age, even though he will be under my sister's name on that auto insurance too.

hi, here in my country they allowed below 18 to drive, but their license is limited unlike and compare to those 18 above, and there license is student license only. but when they are in 18 they could get unpro and pro driver license.

There is nothing wrong with teaching a teenager to drive. They can just learn how to drive but not to drive along the highways, maybe just in villages to make him/her used to it. My Dad taught me how to drive when i was thirteen. Well, he taught me how to drive of that young age because I was taller than others. I could easily look and reach at the breaks and gases. I don't think there is nothing wrong with that. I just drove around our streets and villages for some practice. That is why I easily and quickly got my driver's license.

I can definitely see benefits to making kids wait till 18 to get their driver's license. I'm not sure what state you live in, but here in NC where I live we have something that helps with that a little. Once kids have their learner's permit for a year and then take the driving test they are awarded a limited provisional license. This means they can only drive between the hours of 5am and 9pm without a licensed driver in the car with them. I believe they keep the provisional license for a year before they are awarded the full drivers license. It's not much, but I think it's a good idea to at least keep the younger kids off the roads late at night.
