David Luiz to Chelsea

Chelsea sure is in need of a defender. Terry is rather injury prone now and so they will need another central back. As for Luiz, to be honest, I have not seen him play before. So I cant comment how would it affect Benfica and Chelsea should the transfer goes through.

I think Chelsea will get him and he will help out immediately. While Alex is hurt he will play the Center Back position and Ivanovic will move back to Right Back. He's also coming from Benfica which is a great club. There is however one problem, he is cup tied for the Champions League with Benfica this year so he won't be able to help us in the Champions League but in domestic competitions especially when we play the big teams such as Arsenal, Man U and Man City he will be a big asset for us and in the FA Cup he will be huge. He also play's on the Brazilian National Team and this is another world class player for Chelsea.

I have to say that I don't know David Luiz, but if Chelsea wants to give 25 million Euros for a defender, than he must be a very good one. Of course, Chelsea is a step forward in his career, because the recent performances of Chelsea are better than Benfica's, but Benfica is still a bigger club. But if he want international acknowledge, he will sign for Chelsea.

David Luiz would certainly be a good signing but for the price quoted I don't understand why Chelsea are after him and looking for a decent centre back at far less of Luiz's value. Do Chelsea even need another centre back they've got Alex, Terry, Invanoic can play there as well. I think it would make sense to play some youth give them a chance to make their mark especially Michael Mancienne being so highly rated yes he loaned out at the minute but could Chelsea not hold of until the end of the season and let him have more a role next season. Chelsea need another attacking player in my opinion far more than more defensive cover.
