I was scrapping, trying to finish up my photo album for 2010. I leaned back and my chair collapsed!!! The whole thing just split into several peices. I fell backwards and hit my head on a bench I am working on...also hurt my shoulder. I think bothers me most was the shock of the whole thing falling apart and me flaying about trying to stop myself from a big boomer. Have you ever had a chair collapse with you sitting in it? I am so glad that noone was around...and also very glad it happened to me and not my little granddaughter while she was crafting!

Oh no, I hope you're ok, that sounds painful..I think the closest I have had to falling was not that the chair broke, but I was.. That is, back in my former life when I had a lifestyle where drinking was something I did a lot of and I had missed chairs and even a cliff once..But that is a long boring story, nothing to really write about..

I didn't fall off a cliff, I caught myself before I fell too far. I was a young and rebellious teen, and was somewhere very drunk with some friends. I slipped, and almost fell down this steep hill. I was also barefoot, so it torn up the tops of my feet pretty well.. I get really clumsy when I have been drinking..

I hope that you're feeling okay and I'm glad it wasn't your granddaughter too. lol I've fallen off my chair before, but never got hurt. It was always funny when it happened, and kind of like it was in slow motion. On my computer chair I fell backwards a couple of times. Once I just slid off the chair. It was weird. I had my legs crossed sitting on the chair and slid off the chair. When I landed on the floor I was sitting exactly like I was on the chair. I barely missed hitting my head on the desk that time though.

I am okay...stiff but that's the worst of it....and it was just such a shock when it went! Broke into a ton of pieces....the wood must have been very dried out as the chair was old but before this seemed stable!

I hope you're ok. Yes, it did happen to me once at work years ago. I leaned back in my swivel secretary's office chair and the whole thing just collapsed. Yes, people were around and it really did hurt. But I did end up getting a newer, nicer chair after that. Hopefully you're taking it easy now and you'll get a nice new chair too! Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

No this has not happened to me. I can just imagine how shocked you were and hope that hitting your head does not develop into soething more serious. Are you all right now? What does happen to e is that I will not slow dwn and still alk fast so I tend to trip but usually right myself before falling down. I can imagine how hilarious this must be to the people watching As a result I have broken lots of toes several times - and this is painful I do hope that all is well with you now. blessings

Hiya Jill, By now you will be over the fright it gave you. I used to have an office chair to sit on that always swiveled right down to the bottom in one go. It was one of those Chairs that you could alter it by swiveling it around till you got the right height and you sat on it and hoped for the best. Because often it would seem okay till you sat right on it and then it would take a complete dive for the Floor in one go. In one swivel it would leave you sitting at floor level. It would have scared me too don´t worry about that. Hope you are okay now.xxx

Hiya Jill, Nothing like a nice comfy Office Chair to sit on when you have to work a lot on it as well. This one we have it´s a bit hard to sit on but it´s quite comfy and it does not have that "surprise" effect of dropping down to the ground all of a sudden if you swivel it around either. For other reasons I have two cushions at the back too and an old towel just in case it could get stained by tea and other drinks. Not only that it makes it cooler to be able to sit there in the hot hot Summer time. Have a great Weekend Jill luvya.xxx

Sure glad you didn't really get hurt. How's your shoulder today? I have a computer chair on rollers. Last year I leaned back to stretch and the chair tipped over backwards and I hit a big dresser which is behind me. Didn't get hurt but I remember the slow motion feeling that I was about to fall into a trashcan and hit the dresser with my head. Nobody was home so I had to figure out how to turn sideways and get out of the chair and on my knees. From there I was able to get on my feet. It was quite a sight!

Actually the back of my head where I hit the bench was a little sore this morning and I was a little stiff! LOL...the chair however is a total loss! I bought new ones yesterday for in the and I am so glad my little Ali wasn't sitting in one when it went..the matching one is going to be firewood too!

Oh my goodness jillhill! What a scare that had to have been! You poor thing! Things aren't made like they used to be, very sturdy but instead industries use the cheapest items to make the things we need in our every day lives. Everything is made to break so we'll have to buy new ones which makes the companies all the more richer. Quanity over quality.... so sad. In any case, hope you're not feeling the effects of it now. Your body probably hurts everywhere from the fall but I sure hope not. Bless your heart!!

I did last summer as I was still myLotting and I went to sit in my wheeled chair and one of the wheels broke off and rolled me causing me to flip with the chair. I kind of bruised my left elbow and it was painful, my boyfriend was home who rushed to me and helped me get back up. I wasn't sure if I had to laugh or cry as it hurt. I hope you are not feeling after effects of soreness.

yes, I kinda had one, and it was quite embarrassing. I was about to take my entrance exam when suddenly the chair that I sat on collapsed. I was embarassed and sad because I accidentaly sat on my pack of chips, which was my snack while taking the exam. :(

Goodness Jill are you ok please take care and if you start feeling bad see a Doctor This has only happened to me on a Deck Chair and I was not impressed at all as it happened while Friends where about who of course thought it was funny The regular thing that used to happen to me is when I was a child, my stupid younger Brother always used to pull the Chair away as I am sitting down, once I spilled my Milk because I held onto the Table to try and stop the fall and guess who got in trouble certainly not my Brother lol Please make sure you are ok Hugs

Oh Jill, that's awful! I hope you don't feel the effects from this too badly in a day or two..ouch! Maybe a nice warm shower tonight and let the water beat down on your shoulder. I can imagine what a surprise that was, and to hit your head like that, yikes. Thank goodness you didn't knock yourself out! The only thing that ever happened to me is a lawn chair folded up with me in it, haha...but nothing in comparison to what happened to you. I guess that old saying is so true, "they don't make things like they use to". Hope you feel ok from all this.

Ow, nope. We did once have a garden chair collapse on a guest of ours. She was a bit on the heavy side, but the chair was also kind of old and crappy. R actually warned her, but she decided to sit in it anyway. Nobody was hurt but the chair. Hope you are oK.....

Wow! Glad you're not hurt too badly. My computer chair is missing a couple screws, and the couple it does have come loose every so often. It hasn't actually made me fall out of the chair, but once or twice I've stood up from it only to have the chair fall apart (the standing and sitting must loosen the screws.) I need a new chair, but this one was my foster mom's which I took after she passed. I'm not willing to give it up yet.

I don't blame you...these were given to me by a friend...it was time to get new chairs....so I upgraded to two new ones from walmart. I was surprised how inexpensive they were..on rollers and cushioned seats! Not old wooden ones anymore! Ali will love them!
