Why are the results of our agriculture can not meet the needs of their own country?
We are an agrarian country who planted what I can grow. Examples Rice. Where there is definitely flew. Why do we have to import from the past, while our land is vast paddies. And besides that we have IPB, LIPI and Agriculture departments. Time anyway if you really want businesses and institutions related to agriculture was willing to work hard. Do not just sit behind a desk. Though often make study visits to other countries. In the past when the price of subsidized rice in our rice very cheap why not buy it first government grain from our farmers, would not have to subsidize rice. If the cheap rice is the person who likes to stay in this city but the farmers in the village in tears and was 60% of the population of Indonesia. Until the lazy farmers continue to farm because of losses. In the past when farmers harvest but actually sad instead of happy because the results are to pay debts Is this one reason. We once self-sufficient in food until he said if there is a harvest festival on TV, but why the price of rice even worse off, and surprisingly still-subsidized rice. Though self-sufficient in the sense that states that we can meet the needs of this country with its own production. But the funny thing is no longer we got our food self-sufficiency which he said the economic crisis, and the funny plants also do not want the crisis to grow We are direct imports of rice. So back to food self-sufficiency before, what we really at that time was self-sufficient in food or the government at that time just wanted to show they've managed to self-sufficient in food. But the economic crisis participate rice crisis. we really had it self-sufficient in food ???????? And if you ask me the right to determine the grain price is not farmers' government. If the farmers they could compete, make up the quality of grain. The government only controls only. Because of that experience trade-offs are farmers not the government.

Many factors lead to our agricultural products do not meet the food needs of our own country.
First is the factor that the government pays little attention to farmers
Not yet a matter of continuous rice imports. Both of the community. They seem to prefer imported rice, even though our own rice quality is good. For example, rice Cianjur.
from academia, the less likely majored in agriculture, so that research to advance our agriculture industry is also hampered. Perhaps because the public views about majoring in agriculture, tend to be difficult to be successful. It is also influenced by the government and public opinion itself. If governments can create the image and level of work that are good for agriculture, for example, have created a special laboratory for agricultural graduates, maybe people will be more interested in taking that direction.

Hi Dayangsumbi2010!.
I think our government not really care about what we eat if they really care they will make planing how to provide decent amount to feed his people. I think our government did not have clue how to develop agriculture to provide our need or can be exported too.
I think we import rice but we also export premium rice internationally its usually organic rice. I also know people who export organic vegetable to Singapore and they make big money because organic vegetable more expensive than regular vegetable. I think if our government with their program Go Organic thats they already set, its will reduce the expense for chemical fertilizer because organic product not allowed to use it. Its mean expensive product with lower production cost and less subsidy too.

but there are differences
most of the theory or science of agriculture (agribusiness / financial) for research studies on agricultural development
but
most of the field of agricultural technology (agroteknologi / good agricultural techniques) to utilize the best technology for agricultural purposes

Agriculture was not attractive anymore since we want the country to be industrialized countries. For example, you want to wrestle in the field of agribusiness? high fertilizer prices, already expensive, failure by hard again. where sales results? The sale price is not guaranteed. The price of local rice is more expensive than rice vietnam. Price citrus fields, more expensive than mandarin oranges. Poor apple prices are more expensive than fuji apples. Urbanization of rural youths also flock to the cities to become factory workers or sales rather than cultivate the rice fields and gardens. The problem stayed the regulation of our government should support farmers.

Shifting land use from agricultural land to another designation is increasing from year to year, there are several things that cause among other things: the construction of factories, housing / residential, government offices, etc. The last is the division of inheritance also contribute increasingly smaller ownership land today.
Been a long time to predicate our farmers are landless farmers, most farmers with land tenure is less than 0.5 ha.

Because our government is not serious in the agricultural sector. After the success of SwaSwembada Food, our government seems to forget that our country is an agricultural country. And also the job of becoming a farmer is not a promising profession, because of expensive and difficult to get an automatic raise the cost of fertilizer products, switching function of rice fields, natural factor due to rampant illegal logging sehinngga when the dry season farmers struggled to find water for irrigation and when the rainy season floods and crop failure is a scourge and a threat every year so that farmers make people reluctant to farm his land and prefer to sell rather than have to bear the losses each year
.
The main role of government is needed to address these issues for the costs incurred to import rice from neighboring countries can be used for education, health and economic recovery in our country.
