29th January.. No TV Day

India

Hi, We have a campaign running here in India which states 29th of January should be a no tv day... it suggests people go out for a drive, a walk, a dinner, spend time with friends and family... do whatever but do not switch on the television. Although it is a nice way to encourage people to spend time with their loved ones, I personally feel that these things should come from within and not be imposed or run as a campaign. Do u really think such days should be taken up the way they are now? I mean, publicising the event and urging people to follow... It should be a matter of individual choice... Don't u think so?

I do agree with you. It does seem a good idea, a good way to spend time with family and friends, but doing these activities are individual choices. You can force yourself to doing something that really don't necessarily want to do.

Thanks for the response. I found the idea of not watching tv for a day and spending time with the family as a nice one, but a loud campaign for it a bit strange... Mixed feelings... therefore the post.
