Is SUCCESS defined as how much money you have?

How do one define Success? Is it one's achievement in life? or it is defined as how much money you have or the wealth that you gain in your life. I have been asking this myself. I am a homemaker and like some of my batchmates are already working abroad which means great income for them. I am not envious but some refers to success as the wealth that they gain. I really don't think so, you can't measure success because you are rich, success means something that you have achieved or a a result. It doesn't count whether you have money or you are famous. How do you define success?

success is only a matter of what completes your life to make you happy. personally i moved all around in 1 job in several departments and areas which made me very valuable to the company and even made more than enough money to live very well on. but since i wasn't happy with the job and just going through the routines of it i really wouldn't call it successful that i made it so far in a company that made me miserable. Think to yourself first before you apply for any hobby or job if you could be happy with it first then measure your success in happiness and wellness it brings you.

I like what you said about success being what completes your life. I completely agree with that statement.

i think money is not only factor to decide success , it is one of the factors for success as we all know money is important and we cannot deny this , i think success means your name , power, money, family and above all happiness if you are not happy with what you have then i think you are not successful...

This is one the classic questions that would many types of responses. Success covers many different things. It could be success in career, success in raising children, success in running one's own business, etc etc etc. To me, success is something that make me feel content, that I have achieved many things. But I am not sure what I am thinking, because as time goes by my perception would change. G.

Of course not! I think success is really defined by happiness. If you are truly happy, then you are successful to me, because happiness is pretty hard to achieve. But also, happiness means different things to different people.

I think it goes like this: if all you ever wanted in life was to own an apartment with two rooms and a balcony, and you finally bought it and you're happy to see your lifelong dream achieved, then you're successful. If you always wanted to own a palace with 100 rooms and a pool, and you worked really hard, and managed to get only a palace with 78 rooms, then you're a failure. It's all about how you manage to achieve your dreams - other people, society in general, cannot establish how successful you are, because they cannot tell how happy and fulfilled you feel. But: happiness and fulfillment cannot be quantified objectively. So, when in need of making some measurements, how much money you have can be used as an indicator, simply because it's quantifiable.

I definitely agree with you that success can be define based on individuals wants and dreams. It can also mean how would you rate yourself as successful. Also, one can not judge how successful one is.Thanks.

Success to me is doing something that would eventually make me satisfy in my life. It could be having many money. It could be achieveing something goof. Or it could be having a loving family.

Money can be an indication that measures one's success, but if someone doesn't identify with money or wealth, then other things may define his/her success. A professor may define his success with the knowledge he has attained for instance. A monk with his spirituality. Whatever we achieve, as a Zen practitioner, I say that it is not permanent anyway.. Nothing is and it is that what makes life interesting. _Derek

To me, success is measured by how much happiness is in your heart, how much happiness you have brought others, and how much love you have shared with the world.

For me success is a bit of both, Money and Achievement. To me a person is successful if he has no debt.

Hi, In my opinion,to some extent, success has something to do with money. In the modern society,we can almost do nothing without money. However, success doesn't mean earning a lot of money. There is a movie I love very much.I would like to recommend it to you.It is"three idiots".It talks about the topic about what is success. Good luck.

Yes I agree with you that money is the the calculator of success but still in many communities the status matter due to money in pocket. Still the success is something different, success is when i see all of my friends and family embers happy and satisfied, Success is when i fullfilled all of my promises(most of them), And lots more come in Success calculator but money is very small in comparison to those reasons...

Success is simply achieving goals that we attempt to accomplish. Just earning a penny or finishing some chores can be a success. As for many people, they consider success related to the money and riches they receive because as time passes by, the need of money is increasing. We all tend to do everything just to earn money in any ways. For me, I define success by my achievements or what goal I completed. Just like finishing my studies, overcoming a problem, etc. But I am keeping in my mind that Success is not easily won, it requires hard work and sacrifices.

To me money doesn't define our success because money can go away and then what do you have and money doesn't make a person be a good person. Some people with lots of money can be hateful thinking their better then everyone that doesn't make as much money as them, because they think the money is who they are.

I hope it is not define with money cos I don't have. And I am feeling down most of the times. But the success is measured differently by everyone. Like me, I feel the love of my bf and he supports me along the way that's the success someone is right behind you when you are down.

Success is a relative term.. It depends on the person who is related to it.. for some it could be about what he does(likes and dislikes) , for some it is about money and for some it could be the quality of their life that matters..

Success is not only found in the money we can earn. success can be found in other ways too. It is how you perceive life as how you also see what is defined by success. You can find success in the people in your life and the way you choose to live.

With my humble and ignorant sense, success equal to the money you have. But as time goes along, it is partially true, and partially not true. In reality. how much you have really define your status and how success you are. Maybe you can create or make something that is unprecedented. You are the vanguard and pioneer. Or you can manage to be the master of some skills, and no one can beat you.

I believe you can measure success in material things as property of houses, jeweleries, gold, expensive paintings and money. You can also measure success in years of study passing an exam getting you Master degree in a certain subject. Then your proof of success is knowledge. If you have suffered in an illness and you get well after many years of working on your health, you are successful. Success can be measure in many different ways.

Success is definitely a personal thing. You don't have to be wealthy to feel successful. Successful just means, to me, that you are happy with where you are in life and feel like you've achieved something by doing what you do for a living and being yourself. If you feel important and accomplished, even if you don't have a whole lot of money, you may even feel successful. Now, if your goal is to be wealthy, financially, and you achieve that goal, than that may be your definition of success. For me, it's watching the things you do or say take an effect in society, so that you feel like you've given back and made a difference to someone other than yourself. Sure, money is awesome, but that's not the only thing success involved. Plus, I think if you're truly doing what you love to do and making the most of your life, money will naturally flow to you.
