Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan has revealed that Real Madrid made a bid for him that was turned down. The World Cup star is a great high quality player. Forlan has the technique, physical presence, speed, and dribbling. Diego Forlan would be a great addition to Real Madrid, even better than Adebayor. I don't think he will go now that Real already had a bid rejected. Do you think this transfer will go through? What are your thoughts on this transfer?

Hmmmm idk, I bet there are more teams out there that want him. He really startled the whole world when he played in South Africa 2010. He has amazing accuracy, speed, precision, strength, etc. If he really gets transfered though, the team better have a big wallet, because this guy's got skills!

I definitely think that Forlan would have been a better fit at Real than Adebayor. But now that Real has already signed up Adebayor, I do not think they will pursue this deal any further. I think Athletico are trying hard to hold onto their quality players which is not such a bad thing. Also for Forlan the tenure that he spent at Man U has always left a dark spot in his career whether he is a big club player or not!! So probably on a personal note he himself might not be entirely confident in pushing for a transfer. Cheers! Ram

It's surprising that some truly brilliant players do not function well in top teams. When they're playing for smaller clubs they seem to be in a class of their own at times... perhaps it's the confidence factor of being the best player among a team of average players? I mean he'd be just another player if he was playing for Man Utd, Real, or Barcelona who we expect to peform and the added pressure of competing with the worlds best players may affect their performance. But who knows about Forlan, he was very young when he played for Man Utd. As for him moving to Real, I don't think this would happen seeing as no players position at Real is ever guaranteed - he could be out of the squad a year later.

I dont think Forlan should go to Real Madrid. In Atletico, he is the fulcrum point of the attack and the team is build around him. As a rsult, he looks very good. Likewise for the national team. But at Real, he will play second fiddle to the likes of Ronaldo and Kaka. I believe that is why he would find in tough. Like how he fared when at Man Utd.

He was certainly a better option than Adebayor. Adebayor likes to linger in the penalty area while Forlan works for the team and gets the ball. He is also good at taking free kicks. But Atletico won't allow him to leave and that too at Real.
