Banners on profiles

Why are their so many banners on peoples profiles, I seriously don't get the point of spamming your wall full of banners because all it does is make a bad impression of yourself trying to make people click on the banner. Besides, shouldn't this be considered as spamming if you have tons of banners on your profile?

Hi ske3wed,
people put banners on their wall and not on wall of someone else so i donot see it as spam as mylot let them do anything on their wall. So their wall is like their property and they can put anything they like so long it is not illegal or anti social. So there is no harm if someone earns some money by putting banners on their wall.

1st there are so many sites for earning online,so it's a way to promote those site's as well as increase your referral. I don't thing it will create a bad impression.

That may be considered as spamming but that's their profile. With all due respect, that's none of your business.
