I need some advice on a book

I have been writing poetry for 24 years now. I have accumulated a vast amount of poetry in that time. Poetry for me is a way for me to get the demons out of my head. It is also a way for me to convey my emotions to where I can actually come across to people. In person I am dysfunctional beyond all belief. But when my pen hits the page I am able to relay what I am trying to say. I have decided to write an E-book to sell on Amazon and I have an idea of the way I would like to go about it. I have never seen it done, but maybe someone else has I don't know. I want to write a book of poetry . But i wanna give a little more than just that. I would like to have a poem there, and then behind it have the story of the poems origination. Like where I was at the time, what caused the piece. What the motivation for said piece was. I feel this way if some people can't see my direction, they will have a way to relate the two and understand. And it would be a biography of sorts about me and my life and some of the things I have been through from time to time. You think this is a good idea? Have you ever seen a book of poetry in this format before? If you have , do you remember the author or the name of the book? I would love to see how it worked for them. Anyone have any comments on this or suggestions to help me out with it? Any help would be appreciated.

well that is a great idea but i wonder if your poetry is good to read and understand, why would they need the story to relate it? the main aim of the story can be to inspire others how you got about writing it. may be you can publish two books reed, one with the poems alone and another one with the story behind it :) so if people are interested in your poems or rather want to know how to write a poem, they can use the book for some help and insight :)

Yeah but i think they would go well together. Plus I guess it is more of a way for the reader to connect with me. i have thought that the more the reader feels connected with me , the more of my work he will appreciate.

Yes i am on Triond. Several of my poems are located there. "the things she said" is one of the best. But I actually have a poem that starts the book off and now I am gonna show you that poem which I thought was the coolest way to introduce the book: The book is going to be called "Babblings of a Delusional Mind" and it wont let me paste it here but the article is on triond let me know what you think. Are you one of my friends there?

Hi there! I think it's a great idea! I too, like you, use poetry as therapy. I think a wonderful dimension will be added to your poetry book if you include the story behind the poems. I've never come across any such kind of poetry book but still, I say go for it! If you want to test the feasibility of your idea, you could publish a free version of your poetry book and post it on obooko.com and see people's comments, etc. All the best and keep on writing!

obooko.com is free of charge, both for the writer and the reader. So maybe what you can do is publish a sample of your book over there then direct people to where they can buy the full e-book? :-)

Hi, I'm no poetry person, I know that poetry is beautiful but sometimes I find it hard to understand, I guess I'm lack of artistry, ehmmm. Now about that poetry book you're talking about with the story behind the poem itself, surely I think that kind of book will make a person like me can understand the poetry more easily and more interesting. I think you should go for it. You'll have my courage, good luck.
