Can i do Lasik eye surgery now for this?Please read the whole and then suggest!!

Hello friends,I am a medical(MBBS) aspirant. I passed out class 12th in 2010, and i am giving my medical entrance exams.in 2010 i gave some,but only for 10-12 marks i got disqualified. My wish is to get chance in Indian Army Medical Corps. This year I have filled the application form also for the exam. The only thing to do is to crack it with my hard work,which I am doing. Now there is another problem, that is the medical standards required by the applicants to join the college, which is set by the Defence Ministry of India is creating a problem for me. If anyone is declared unfit in the medical examination done by them , the applicant will be barred from taking admission. The problem is that,my eye power is -6.5 D for both the eyes. I am having myopia.And maximum power deficiency limit for joining the college is only -3.5D for myopic eyes. That means i m unfit and i can be barred , no matter if i am the topper in academics.So i need my vision to be corrected.Exam is on 1st may 2011 and interview date is in june. means i have 4 5 months time in my hand.i have to correct my vision within this time to get admission in INDIAN ARMY MBBS COURSE.
So i want to ask , is laser eye treatment possible? I am only 18 years old. Please tell all info about this treatment.And best places in india to do it.
Please help. I think this is the only step that can help correcting my vision in this much time.
I am wishing to join the MBBS course so that after 4 years, I will be a doctor and an army officer like capt. and all. Please suggest !

I have the same problem regarding the eye sight but my power is -3.5 and -3.75 and i am 19 now, when i wanted it to be done the doctor had adviced me to get it done after
20 and the reason he told me was i am just 17 and its not advisible to get it done in this age and he told me that our power comes to a constant level only at an age of 20 or 21 and he told me that it can be done at that time.I guess you got to consult a opthamologist so that you can get a better advice.Good Luck for your career.

...Hi sonaimajumdar, As someone else mentioned, we are only giving opinions here we are not experts. But you would get information from a specialist before you decide to have anything done to your eyes. The other comment about the age sounds very logical. I would also look into the possibilty of getting contact l;enses, se if they are feasible, if so that might solve your entire problem. If you then want to get the surgery later and you have consulted at least two doctors it would be an informed decision. Good luck. Take care.

hi sonaimajumdar I would really go consult an opthamologist as we lay
people cannot really give qualified advice.He or she would know if
you qualify for laser surgery or not ,He may suggest you just get fitted with glasses instead and surely if you can read the textsyou can get ahead in college. why, do you have to have laser surgery for some reason? anyway seeing an eye specialist is the best way to find out all about your eyes and wh is best to correcr your vision problems.

hi friend!
i am also a medical student.now im in china for my study.i think you can do it as soon as possible because its your dream to addmite your self in Army Medical corps.wow my also want to a army doctor but i dont know it is possible or not.so don't be late go do it and fulfill your dream.its your time now..
