Sisters are truely the most thoughtful people you can be blessed with having in your life. They are always there through life's ups and downs. They are the ones that knows you like no other, and they also can be the ones to surprise you with memorable gifts, such as my sister did 4 years ago with my birthday gift. Everyone that knows my sister tries to out do herself with my birthday gifts. She will have it months in advance, and torture me with the thoughts of what it could be.I remember that year was really bad, and I knew it had to be something great. Four years ago my sister, her daughter, and me took a trip with our uncle to Cancun, and the morning we were to leave we decided to shop around one last time in the hotel gift shop. A ring caught my eye that was shining under the display light. I am a ring lover, a bold one at that. We were of course on a budget, and had only so much money. The ring was a Mother of Pearl, sterling silver ring, and 40 bucks. I didn't want to spend the little bit of money I had left, just in case of some emergency going back home. I stood there admiring it, thinking about it. Finally after about 20 min of thinking about it, I walked away. My sister knew what trouble I was having deciding on rather I should get the ring or not. I left knowing that I would never see it again, never the less, ever get another chance to return to Cancun. She teaches kindergarten ,and also tends to the after school daycare. So the evening of my birthday I was going out, and she could not get off early, so she asked me to come see her at the school so I could get my gift. I go, and they were in the gym, kids, teachers, plus her daughter standing there talking with her. She ran up to me and said happy birthday, here you go, and handed me small box which naturally told me it was most likely jewelry, but there was not any markings on it, so I had no idea what type of jewelry or where from. I opened the box in front of everyone, and tears rolled down my face. It was the ring that I had admired, and even keep on about to my husband once I got back home. I had regretted my decision to leave it, and there it was in my hands. My sister had sent her daughter back in the gift shop after we had left, to purchase the ring. The sales lady was thrilled, she even knew how bad I wanted the ring. I adored the ring before, but now it's not the ring that matters, its who gave it to me and how. And that is my most memorable gift of all !

Awww...that's so sweet!!! Makes me wish I had a sister. I've two brothers and always wondered how it's like to have a sister. With a sister like that, I guess I'm missing out much. I hope you also surprise her on her birthdays

oh yes, I do try to surprise her ! Funny, I have always wondered what it would be like to have a brother. How does that saying go ...we want what we don't have. But, with that said, I would not take all the money in the world for my sister !

Well, I love them to pieces, but boys (especially when we were growing up) could be really nasty. But, I would never, ever trade them for anything in the world, too!
