My 8 year old son recently wrote a note to the tooth fairy upon loosing his second tooth about what she does with all of the teeth she collects. The response that he got was that she send them up to the sky to become stars, so he needed to make sure that he brushed his teeth, since whiter teeth make brighter stars. A few weeks later when we were coming home at night he wondered which star was he tooth. How have you answered or do you plan to answer this question.

My daughter has also asked me this same question. My answer to the question was that the tooth fairy used the baby teeth that children had lost to give to babies that don't have teeth yet. She was perfectly accepting of that answer and even started to wonder if some of her old baby teeth are in her cousin's mouths because they are four and six years younger than she is. I think it is need to let a child believe that their baby teeth are used for other children.

When my child was seven she lost her tooth and was told about the tooth fairy. But she did not believe it so the myth of her was lost. Well in your case, it's really funny how parents has to go through this telling about myths and lies. If your asking my version of answer, well, I tell him the fairy collected a lot of teeth and scattered them in the sky and thus not knowing who's who's among those in the sky! And maybe because he's a good son, the brightest could be his!

Don't you just love it when your child is so smart and intelligent enough to ask such questions? My 4 year old niece does this too. We were reading a counting book and it said..."8 elephants were (doing something) and one went to heaven and now there were 7..." And it showed one elephant with a halo and wings going off to heaven. The last page said "....and all 10 elephants came back". She sees the 8th elephant that went to heaven there with halo and wings and says "Wait. That one went to heaven. You can't came back from heaven! Why did they do that?" I didn't have an answer but still smile at her intelligence!

What a great response! I haven't crossed this bridge with my girls yet, but definitely will remember this when the times comes. At Christmas my oldest wanted to know why she couldn't eat more cookies since Santa got to eat all the cookies that all of the boys and girls leave for him on Christmas Eve. We told her that he took the cookies back to the North Pole for a treat for the elves since they made all the toys. You definitely have to have an imagination with kids!
