That's right and in a scientific sense, too. It is revealed that Cancer Research in U.K. has managed successfully trained Labrador Retrievers to detect bowel cancer in human beings and the findings could lead to screening tests for the early stages of bowel cancer, which is when cure rates are highest before the disease has spread around the body. So far, the research had been conducted with Labrador Retriever and Portuguese water dog breeds, with the former achieving over 90 percent accuracy rate. The Labrador's ability to detect cancer in breath samples was 95 per cent accurate overall, and 98 per cent accurate for stool samples. Look's like dogs are really our best friends indeed. On this note, I wonder if the demand for Labradors will escalate because of this heartening discovery. One thing for sure, the price for this breed will not be the same as yesterday. buli23, My exact sentiments here. It just show how invaluable dogs are. I really am in favor where it could actually discover the cancer at its early stages where our machines and technologies have known to fail and bring about effective cures. Kudos to the people responsible for the research and discovery.

Hello sky, My dog is a stress reliever and always asked for attention to play with her. although i get jealous when ever the one who gave her to us visits us here and she gets too excited that the chains of the Leashed are easily broken. And what I love about her at most is that she's not afraid to Chase cats. so, when ever there is a Cat stranger in our back yard i would put her there to chase them out. of course, with this i might acquire another Dog on the back.

LetranKnight25, This is a wonderful and interesting discovery where I am particularly in favor since it could actually discover the condition at its early stages which could greatly assist with curing. Your dog sounds like a delightful bundle and hope that the both of you will have a wonderful time together.

I think that what animals can do is just amazing. I know that there are quite a few things dogs can detect in humans before they happen or get bad. I definately think that the price of the breed might very well get higher in price. This just goes to show that a dog is mans best friend and they deserve to be treated with love and affection.

It is honestly not just the fact that there are some kinds of dogs that can be trained to detect cancer in people. It is also the fact that dogs can be trained to help people that have special needs of their own. There is a reason that our family will always have a pet dog in our house. I really do believe that they serve a lot of good purposes in a human's life. I've got a cousin that has had a service dog for the last 22 years and that fact is another thing that really endeared me to dogs.

Oh yeah! They really are man's best friend. Our dog is my mom's stress reliever. I noticed that whenever my mom is stressed or in a bad mood, then our dog would come to her, instantly mom's face brightens up and her mood would be okay. I know most dogs can do that too but it just surprises me how fast my mom would feel better when our dog is around. No wonder she loves our dog more then her own children! LoL I love our dog, too!
