A Proposed Bill on National Pet Registry!

Philippines
February 2, 2011 1:08am CST
I've read in an online newspaper that mother and son Reps. Arroyos is proposing a bill that will register all pets in the Philippines. They said the increasing number of lost pets provoked them to propose this bill. I am a pet owner and I love my pets so much. I think it won't hurt if this will be passed, but of course, this is the least in the list of bills to be passed. The idea is good, but it's not of urgent need nowadays. Share us what you think.

like you've said, this one is not of urgent need but this is good for pet lovers like you. with the arroyos, i hope they will think some more new laws that will benefit the majority and not the few.

I find that mother - and - son tandem amusing. They look like they are desperate to pass a bill for the sake of just passing a bill and brag about it. PETA and PAWS might love them for now. And I agree with you. Majority should benefit in the laws to be passed. However, I also think we have too many laws right now that all we need to have is strict implementation.

Why am I not surprised that these are the types of bills those two would file? Well, it's a bill about pets and they had a significant number of those when GMA was the president.

I had a laugh when I read the news actually. I was like "and why on earth did these two decide to propose the bill, where there are a lot more important issues to be tackled on?" Let us presume that they passed this bill because they lost one of their pets. Hahaha.

Oh, it's a bill on real pets. I thought the filed a bill for their pets in the government. Haha. But seriously, it's a good bill but not an urgent one like you said.

It would be for the benefit of the country if Arroyo's pets in the government will be lost, right? Hahaha.

Why don't they pass a bill on giving more transparency when our government deals and increase accountability of public officials instead?. Having pets registered would just add another burden to the already over taxed middle to upper middle class sector of our society. If we can afford to buy expensive pets or take care of any pet for that matter then we must be responsible enough to provide for their security, We can never count on our government to do that for us. If we register our pets what will Government do? Give us free dog food, vaccination or pay for the vet? Of course not, they will only pocket the money, and when we fail to register, what do they plan to do? Milk us some more. We have already too much laws that we cannot implement any more because of political grandstanding, personally I think we do not need another one.

Hmm... I think they can't pass transparency bills. Or they will stop those who will pass one. Why? Because they will be caught. We will discover more of their anomalies --- even more than what we have heard in the news.

, ya more than we or they can bargain for, anyway that still needs to be proven.
