Australia gave themselves a big shot in the arm to defend their world cup title fourth consecutive time by hammering England 6-1 in just concluded One day series. Buoyed by their captains knock 82 of just 70 balls, Australia overcame mighty English score of 333 for 6. Australia were always on the hunt for the target right from the word go but 90 runs partnership between captain Clark and David Hussey proved decisive. There were minor hiccups at the end of the match when Australia were cruising well requiring just 24 runs of last 4 overs with 5 wickets in hand. Suddenly Australia lost three wickets in aspan of three overs to give England a glimmer of a hope of victory but Lee and Hastings romped them home with 4 balls to spare. Earlier in the day England put on a mammoth score of 333 at the back of good century from in form batsman Trott. With this loss England have suffered a big blow to their world cup campaign as they could not defend such a huge score.

One cannot rule out Australia on any given day...even if they are in dumps they come out winning...barely have they lost...especially the ODI's, its thier fort...though earlier they were the rulers in the test arena but are no more rulers Australia are still dominant in the 50-over format...they are really good in their business.

The final scorecard does look impressive. But i will not give too much of importance for a win over a severely depleted side. The team looks too dependent on Watson & look like a one man army. You get watson early Aussies will panic. I did watch the last game where Aussies did a record chase. It was more a case of England throwing away the match than Aussie winning it. Bret lee has been getting a lot of wickets. But with the kind of over-pitched stuff that he is bowling, he is sure to hammered in World cup. This is only team without even a half decent spinner. By the looks of It there is a very slim chance of Australia reaching their 5th consecutive finals.
