We had floods last month in Australia and tonight there is a category 5 cyclone going to hit the north of my state of Queensland. My heart goes out to my fellow queenslanders in this bad time. They say this cyclone is as bad as what hurricane Katrina was. They are expecting winds of 300km/hr and over 1000ml of rain. I am about 1800km away from where the cyclone is so we will be ok but several friends live up there. Cyclone Yasi is going to be the biggest cyclone in record in Queensland. I think mother nature is taking its fury on us for neglecting the world we live in. What do you think?

although we are in South East Queensland too and far from any severe winds, my wife and I hardly slept last night worrying about the damage being caused as were were safe in our beds. We have friends, customers and people that we do business with regularly up there in amongst this. We are hoping that they are safe this morning. Yep, Mother Nature is certainly upset with Queensland. Probably a retaliation to the huge amount of mining destruction that goes on in our state, or the fact that Anna Bligh's government put poisonous fluoride in our water without even consulting us first.

I have friends in Cairns and Townsville and my parter has friends in Mackay and Emerald. Both her friends were flooded out last month with the floods we had. The one in Emerald is already homeless as a result. Their house was washed away down stream.

I've been responding to a lot of weather-related discussions lately..From people all over the world. In the US we've had QUITE the winter season so far - and it's not even over with yet! Besides being cold and a little snowy, it's not too bad here. But we just got hit with a ton of snow, before that ice, and just recently a HUGE cold-front with temps like -40 (F). This year has definitely been unlike any other year, at least from what I remember. Be safe!

It seems to get hotter in parts and colder in other parts. Also the droughts are getting worse and the floods getting worse.

This is the normal progression of the earths cycles. We've had several ice ages & warming periods in the past. This nice moderate climate we've had for the past few centuries is coming to an end.

I heard that some are predicting a new ice age soon. Most are suggesting its going to get hotter. This weather may be trying to even it out and make it more stable but it can't keep up with our destruction.

It's going to get hotter first. Large amounts of the ice shelf will then melt. There will then be more water covering the earth. Water reflects more light than land so the earth would then start cooling down quickly & another ice age would set in.

I guess it is fighting back. Whenever some people are throwing their trash wherever they don't mind it, they'll just think that it's just a tiny garbage but what they don't know is they all matter. The forests have been shaved off of good trees that's why there are tsunamis. We really should take care of mother nature instead of taking it for granted.

Oh sorry to hear the mishap that your country is going through just like in my country we experience furious typhoons and big big floods every year. You right, mother nature has its own way of getting back to those who neglect and abuse its beauty and contribution to the earth life.I hope we all get together to protect mother nature!
