So I've been trying to be a vegetarian unsucessfully for the past 5 months. I did 6 months meat free last year. I'm going to start tomorrow. I hope by putting this out there I will hold myself accountable to it. I really love meat and have a difficult time with it. I am only doing it to be enviromentally friendly and cut down on my carbon footprint. Wish me luck

Be sure to take brewer's yeast and lecithin or whatever to make up for the necessary nutrients in the meat, OK? I shunned chocolate for two years once, just to see if I could do it. I cut down on my carbon footprint enough already by not having babies.

That is the wrong reason to be a vegetarian. I would be more sympathetic if it were for health reasons. I also think that to reduce your carbon footprint the ultimate goal is to make sure that the human race is extinct, because no humans no carbon footprint. And if you really look inato this enviro friendly proponents, much of it is anti-human and love animals. So really think of your reasons and if your doctor says cut down on meat because of a health issue, then do it, but not just to ae the environment. Think also of the people who raise animals, do you want them to lose their business? By the way, putting dried food in Mason Jars will save you from going to the store and buying canisters, turning the light off on rooms when you are not using it, not keeping the tempt up to 70, and turning it to 65 at night, and if you live in a cold countryu if there is a lot of snow, use that for drinking after putting it through a cheesecloth instead of buying one of those water containers. Much you can do that will not give people the idea that you really love animals more then people. Bh the way are not animals carbon based as well?

actually reducing the carbon imprint is a goal of making the world sustainable so that humans can continue to live on it. We don't want no carbon footprint . We want every person to use up only the amount of resources for one person. Many people in the western world especially use 5 or 6 times their share. don't seen how green products are antihuman. All the people who raise animals will have new jobs. There will be an increase in vegetable consumption so there will be a need for more of those types of farmers. I already do a lot to save the enviroment. I turn off lights when I leave the room. I uninsured my car. I drink tap water. I reuse things and recycle. Animals are carbon based but they breathe oxygen not carbon. I actually love all animals both human and not equally. btw I decided not to eat meat myself. I'm not advocating it for anyone else. Each person needs to do whats right for themselves.

If you love meat, why give it up? Environmentally friendly? If everyone were vegetarians the planet would have so many cows, pigs and chickens that we would be overrun. Carbon footprint? People say carbon dioxide is ruining the planet but all our plants need it in order to live. Less carbon dioxide means less healthy trees and vegetation. I don't think giving it up for these reasons is good. Besides, your body needs the protein and iron you get from meat and you may get those in the amounts needed if you give up meat. But if you are determined, I wish you luck!

Actually most cows pigs and chickens are farmed for meat. So if people no longer ate them then the farmers would no longer raise them as they would make no money. You are correct that plants need carbon diaoxide to live. However there is too much in the atmosphere and not enough oxygen. This poison's humans and other mammals. Your body does need protein and iron but there are other ways to get it.
