The rich are getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer

This is the reality. As I was watching the morning news, there were reports on how these already rich businessmen, politicians, and government officials are getting richer... And it's not because they work hard or they have invented something new... They're getting richer because of corruption and plain greed. Greed in a way that belittles the poor. Greed that takes away the taxpayers' money. And the result? The poor are getting poorer. I know it's not fair to generalize them, but sometimes, we just can't help it. I just can't help it. I believe and I know that there are still a lot of honest businessmen out there, and probably a few honest politicians too. But with what's happening in our country right now, it's very evident. It's depressing really. Just saying.

The same issue is faced by my country. It's a cycle - the rich get richer and the poor become poorer. It's sad to admit but corruption is rampant in my country so the taxes are not being used to benefit the lower class members of our society. The rich have all the connections and the means, so it becomes very easy for them to venture in anything they like. They could easily go into business, thus expand their wealth. Their children could gain education abroad which becomes a big advantage for them. They are well-equipped with academic degree, business exposure, networks, so life is easy for them. They get to progress more. On the other hand, the poor have no means, and their lives is just bent on surviving each day by striving to have three meals a day - no more no less. Strapped for cash, it's a struggle for them to have access to opportunities for development.

It seems they've come up with a full proof plan on getting rich and it's by sucking all that's left of the poor. When a person steps up to that throne of power, they'll be corrupted undoubtedly, it's just a question of when. Only some can stand the seduction of money and these people, we should admire.

Our newly elected president promised to eradicate corruption in government officials. But we all know that it's impossible. That is the reality. At least here in our country, that is. But lessening these monsters is a better option than none at all. Politicians are being exposed now for what the crime of graft and corruption. The only problem is, they're being protected by others who are obviously benefiting from what they're doing. It's a vicious cycle.

I used to believe this statement. It is still true but I feel we need to change our perspective of being despaired to one of positiveness. I want to be rich too, so that I can enjoy wealth as well as help others. Therefore, I will work hard and smart but with integrity to obtain so. If I am to get richer and richer, then well and fine. But if I only murmur and lament about the rich, and do nothing about it, and become poorer and poorer each day, who is to blame, except myself. This is my two sense of thoughts.

That's right, we should do something while wishing to be rich. No one can get rich just by dreaming. Only those people who work hard, invest smart can make their money increase.

There are so many people don't get what they deserve. It is a world wide issue. We can not blame this to a specific government, but all. But the only way that can save us, is by working hard ourselves.

That is the reality. I can't deny that some rich people start their wealth from scratch, but many of them are using public office for private gain. Once they have got the money and puissance, it is so easy for them to go on cleaning up. Take the real estate as an example, as the price of the houses are increasing so quickly, it is quite hard for everyman to buy one, so it makes people poor to just buy a house for living, but how much are the land agent making by selling out a suite? But let us consider this, why can they become land lord ? I think the puissance contribute a lot. This is just one aspect for this. I think this is one reason why the rich are getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer.

Yes this is an issue with every country of the world and there's nothing that anyone could do about it. We can just hope that people do everything in limit, thinking of others too.

I can understand what you are saying. As a person that would be considered poor I am living under the poverty level. I live in canada, my husband is legally not allowed to work due to illness. We had kids before he got ill. They say that I am not allowed to work so that I can take care of the kids because he can not be alone with them. So we are on government assistance. They just barely give us enough to make the basics in life. And some months are really alot harder than others. My kids do not get to enjoy many things. They are limited due to our status. They do not have the "in" clothes and are teased about that. They do not have all of the up to date technologies. They do have a couple of game systems that their grandparents got them for christmas. Now I watch all of these people that do make a substantial income waving their money around and saying they need more. It does not make a whole lot of sense as to why they all need so much more money. They have all the luxuries in life while people that do not or did not have a chance struggle and go without. And then they say they have an issue with all the crime. Well how many people go out and rob to make sure their kids are fed. How many people die because they can't afford food or medical help. This world really sucks and is definately depressing.

I hear what you are sayin for sure. It does seem that way doesn't it? I think we need to switch to a flat rate no deductions or loopholes. Everyone pays 2 percent or 5 percent on everything they earn period... it's fair for everyone and no one gets out of paying. We'd probably be out of debt in 5 years!

seems like but we all have to be careful with people we trust. even with the rich ones can be so tricky and decieving.

It has been this way since, well, the dawn of man. And if you think it will ever change, we will have to agree to disagree! Don't let it get you down...just find poorer friends. If you are the richest, maybe you will become richer! lol!

Well it's always been like that for decades. Even here in India recently a large amount of black money was revealed but the name of the people had been kept safe. They have much more money which is present in their Swiss bank accounts but they are not even opening their mouths. Some one should have a talk with them about who's running this nation. It's the society also to blame because they elect their people who complain that they will promise us everything and in turn they would want our votes. I really hate such kind of politicians who play dirty two minded games. Cheers!

It's obvious that this is the saddest realities of the society we live in today,I'm pretty sure this is not happening only in your country or mine,it's a global phenomenon, and I think the extension of corruption and decay related to politics is even far beyond our imagination. What really makes me sad is that many times these corrupt and unscrupulous people involved in business, politics and so on try to impose people to live in certain ways and to be obedient even in so-called 'democratic' societies. The most disgusting thing for me is to see them preach of sorts of lessons on morality or on how people should accept to work hard for very low salaries and not even demonstrate for their rights.Unfortunately, most times people accept their miserable fate, until one day when revolution starts, such as it's happening right now in Egypt and then maybe there are hopes for some changes. It's sad that the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer, and I really don't think the situation will change very soon.

At the bottom of the bag! Social division of labor is that the rich get richer and the poor getting poorer ....It is very easy because the state is controlling the process of formation of social classes, which determines who is and how to accumulate wealth, who and how to accumulate social deprivation, so poverty. No truth is more than this money makes money. They like to congregate together. That's life.Yes, it's sad. But it seems to be a reality. Now, we can work hard and do something about it or waste time crying and become a part of the problem. The choice,as always, is entirely yours.

A agree with you. Those who already rich are getting richer and richer and the poor are getting poorer and poorer. The richer have so many chances to increase their wealth while the poor nearly have no chance to full themselves. Although there are charities, but the poor can hardly change their lives.
