Getting the skunk smell off my dog.

My dog got sprayed with a skunk. Lots of different times this has happened and it is real strong. You always see on movies that they use tomatoes or something with tomatoes to soak in to get the smell out. I've tried that and it doesn't get it out very well. So, I started giving my dog a bath in vinegar and that gets rid of the smell real good.

I have always heard of tomato juice for getting the skunk smell off. I have never heard of the vinegar but as long as it works and it's ok for the dog's skin...you have a new home remedy..lol. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for commenting. That's what works for me and it doesn't seem to bother my dog at all. I don't know if you use vinegar to color your boiled eggs or not for Easter but our hands get in it and it doesn't bother our hands. LOL. Have a good weekend!

I actually told a friend of mine at work about your vinegar remedy. Her dog got sprayed. She was going to use peroxide and baking soda...I was a little afraid it might bleach the dog's hair but she said she had done it before and it was ok. I like yours better..lol..Thanks for the best response.

That's cool that it can help other people out. It sure helped me. That smell wouldn't come out any other way. I would be afraid of that bleaching out the dog too.You welcome.I haven't been a member for very long and I just started giving good responses out because I like to wait for a while to give everyone a chance to answer. Thank you for giving a good response. Have a good week.

Thank you for commenting. I don't think that will work for skunk smells. LOL. I wish it did. You're lucky that you don't have skunks there.
