Is there anything on the news that is honestly shocking these days?

When I can stomach the news and actually sit down and watch it, I really tend to regret it. There seem to be a lot of atrocities going on in the world that you believe the news. Still, when the latest heinous crime is talked about on the news, I'm really not surprised that something like this. Saddened, think it is senseless, but really its not surprising. I think the news has really done this to a lot of people. There is only so much bad stuff you can hear about, before you stop being surprised.

the news is getting less shocking for me. they keep on trying to push the envelope with stories they can find but sadly i'm getting use to all the bad stories because thats usually all they show.

Its hard to not even stand up and take much attention. There are times where I am listening to the news and am like, "yeah, yeah, bad, saddening but really I'm not surprised." Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

There is so much violence in the world today. /what may have shocked us in the past does little to shock us now. We don't seem to be surprised at the things people will do and say to each other anymore. I think we get so accustomed to tragic events that it would take something very climatic to shock us now.

I think that we have gotten used to it. Which is a bad thing. There will come a time where we just become so apathetic that we start caring in any way. Until someone tops the worst thing ever and really, would anything short of destroying a good chunk of the planet really catch our attention? Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I got your point. There really isn't anything new anymore. I mean, I have seen all possible ways to commit a murder. I think I have seen all possible permutation and combination of this. Nothing surprises me anymore. I have seen how human aggression can debilitate everything around its epicenter. I don't think it can offer greater creativity and innovation than what it has already been shown. Sadly, humans are the most dangerous enemy for themselves. Only one thing can wipe out the human race from this earth and that is human race itself. There can be no physical punishment anymore cruel, inhuman than what has already been meted out. However, I think there are still few ways through which one can shatter human psychology. Psychological tortures vary in intensity and there can still be a few things that are not tried yet and that can shock us to a high degree.

The fact that we are our own worst enemy, is that the truth. Every day, just when you think that people in general cannot go any deeper, someone finds a bigger shovel. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

So unfortunate but true, seems nothing should really surprise us as it gets worse each time I view and or read the news. However, I think because of the atrocities, it certainly amazes me each and every occurrence. Especially when it is centralized and becomes news on each station. Perhaps because I would like to see more peace and good then the bad.

Really it would kind of be a surprise if there was something good. Just one thing, surely not everyone in this world that makes the news is evil, spiteful people? Then able the news media is becoming more of a business of making a profit and less about reporting the facts with each passing year. And nothing sells like bad. Its just like when you witness a car wreck. Its awful but there is just something that is compelling to watch. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

With all those shocking news, i am thinking that the end of times is near. I just cannot fathom why such atrocities, murders , rapes could have been done by those persons. It's as if , a lot of people are now under the devil.

Well at the very least, the world is not a very pleasant place. Hopefully things will turn around. Doesn't seem like it, but that is one of the things that will hopefully enable me the will to live. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Yes it has almost become a routine to hear bad news when you switch on your tv and switch to some news channel. The world has become hell when with the growing greed of people. The politicians loot the people. Richer class grows more rich and the poor more poorer. Wish we could do something about it.

The rich are profiting off of the bad news when you think about it. People are seeing the economy and making stupid decisions that are dragging them further into a hole. It is really something that should not be that shocking to think about, but really it does tend to make a disturbing amount of sense. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Not in the mainstream media. They usually just tell the pointless crap anyway.

Yeah really with the mainstream media, you pretty much get everything that you expect. There is really nothing too out of the ordinary. It really is jarring in many ways. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.
