How can they ignore the facts?

It would sound like I hate my country so much, but really it's everything that's happening right now here in the Philippines that I loathe. The poor system, the increasing crime rate, poverty, etc. Im not one lazy citizen who just sits around waiting for things to turn around. I try to make changes, and I try to make a difference for the good of others. It may be little, but at least Im doing something. Unlike these government officials (Ombudsman) who are, say, I don't know, just plain stupid for me. How can they ignore the facts regarding the Garcia Plunder case? I mean, come on! The evidence is right in front of you! How can you not convict that man, who obviously stole money from the Filipinos? Who robbed the poor of their precious money to have his son live in a $765000 USD Trump apartment in New York? And what's worse, it's enough to convict someone of plunder if he has stolen at least 50M PHP, and this animal is reported to have stolen more than 300M PHP??? This is really just plain disgusting. It's too obvious that somehow, delaying the case and ignoring the facts benefit them these ignorant morons in more ways than one. I loathe them. Bunch of incompetent and dishonest officials. And to think that they swore to uphold the law and protect the people.

hi kaycharmedMD I would hope that a lotof other filippinos would join you in trying to make changes and if enough concerned citizens worked together it might make a big dent in those corrupt officials and their wrong doings that affect all of you. All I as an American can do is send my prayers that enough concerned citizens can put as stop to this corruption. I am sure we have had some of that here in some public officials but it gets smoothed over. sad but true.

Thank you Hatley... I believe in the power of prayers. Sadly, there are more ignorant citizens here, who complain and complain but dont really act on the problem. They complain and just sit back and watch the show. There have been lots of political turmoil here, but this one really maddens me. I do hope others would do something about it. What they contribute doesn't have to be something big, or doesn't have to involve the whole nation. But influencing a good few is a start. I thank you for your concern. Have a great day my friend!

oh, of course, we all know this.. we kept on repeating it even right.. in our heads, in our conversations with our friends, when we are having dinners with our family.. we sure do know that these things are happening around us and in our country right before our eyes but, well i guess we are just ignoring the fact that the leaders of this country thinks more of their get rich quick schemes and we ALLOW them to do so.... hay its so typical. if i can just quote from a filipino himself... " we filipinos easily forget, easily forgive what has been done to us.. and eventually as if we have not been hurt". That is how we are being fooled around by the "better" or should i say "evil" ones.

I used to say that there is hope in this poor country of ours if we all try to make a change for the better. But it seems that the corrupt politicians are too much and to think that that money they stole are from our taxes. I am not belittling the poor folk who don't work here, but they don't pay taxes. Imagine what I could do with the tax money being deducted from my paycheck. Then you hear news like this. These kind of people have no conscience. They don't care if the poor get poorer. What matters is that they can live like kings no matter how they get the money.

I'm totally with you on this. I didn't finish my law school but you don't need a law degree to see the blatant miscarriage of justice here. And to think these people have years and years of experience in that field. That's one reason I got out of government service and went back to the private sector. I couldn't stomach the corruption. And believe me, it's top to bottom.

You're not alone in feeling like this, we the ordinary people, the one paying taxes religiously and correct, are being made stupid by all of these bright, professionals in the government. They all think that just because they are in the position, they can do everything , fooling the people, rubbing them, while they live comfortably with our hard -earned taxes. Let's pray that time will come, we the people could rise up and make a big change, real change in the country! Not like the fake EDSA REVOLT! But real people POWER!

Very true. They are on the denial stage of their lives. They refuse to see things through to do cover ups. Denying has been so easy for them. It was brave for someone to stand up and tell something shocking against the giants of this country. How true are the statements? We can't tell at this moment. I choose to believe the accusations. It has been like this for so long. For every man having to be in a high position for the service of the country, they ending up becoming richer. This is something hard to explain and even harder to digest. How can they spend something not theres? Is justice going to be served? In this country, governed by this people, I guess we will never know until it happens?

At least we have a Heidi Mendoza who bravely stood up and told the truth. If it were not for her, we would accept Maldita, este Merceditas Gutierrez' word that we have no evidence against the Garcias. I think they were hoping that this agreement would fly beneath our radar. I find the timing suspicious - Garcia bailed before Christmas. I wonder who else had a wonderful christmas? If only each one of us would be like you doing just a little for our country, then we would be in a better place.
