Web Hosting?

I've recently bought a domain name from GoDaddy for $11.59 (not cheap at all since it's a .com). I'm a little off with terms like parking and hosting. Can somebody explain this to me? What does it mean when I'm going to park my domain and how is it different from hosting my domain? Any help will be much appreciated. Happy myLotting!
