Australia to some extent avenged their Ashes series loss to their arch rivals England by dominating O.D.I. series and winning it with resounding 6-1 margin. In perth to day they overwhelmed tired English side with depleted second string team lead by Cameroon White by 57 runs. Batting first after winning the toss Australia made 279/7 with the help of solid 80 from 106 balls from Vogue who has been declared man of the match for his efforts. England in reply could only manage 222 runs in 44 overs. With this win Australia has declared to the world that they are still No.1 O.D.I. team and ready to defend their world cup title for the fourth time in succession which begins later this month in Indian sub continent.

Dude... One small correction... He made 80 from 72 balls not 106.... And today's was a good performance from them... But even today, I feel its just a lame performance by England.... Lot of players missing ofcourse... but still they could have played better... Especially KP... He seemed to be playing a 5 over match with a target of 100 or a 50 over match with the required run rate more than 10.... He was just going at everything even though he is connecting hardly anything correctly.... I felt he wanted to go and take rest as soon as he can....

I dont fully agree with that... But they have a lot of luck unlike many other teams... They are aggressive in the first place which helps them a lot... But its very tough for them to perform consistently here in India and SL... There will hardly be anything for the bowlers who are known only for pace with almost no swing like Tait and all.... So, I couldnt find them as threating as they seem now in Australia..

I am sorry for that it was indeed a slip. Thank you for correction. England some how has lost interest in O.D.I. series after fulfilling their wish of regaining Ashes. In first 2 O.D.I. they played well and Australia were lucky to win. After all Australia is not No.1 for nothing. They know to capitalize on others mistakes.

Yes, it is a very sad thing, to note that Australia, have peaked right on time for the world cup.As you have rightly mentioned, today they played a second string team. When they come to India, all the giants like Ponting, Clarke, and Hussey will be in full form.

No I don't think it is sad thing that Australia has picked at the right moment. It is indeed good thing there will be more charm and satisfaction to beat Australia now. We have to avenge our previous defeats by them particularly the one in '03 finals. There is no charm in Beating a second string and depleted side.

Divkar, I will be very happy, if we are able to beat the Austalians, and rub Ponting's face in Indian sand. But will it happen, the way Watson and others are playing seems omnious.

All these days i never took Australia's victories seriously. But winning today, without Watson, Ponting, Lee, Hissey & Clarke they have indeed proved that they will be a major threat in world cup. both lee & tait have regularly hit 150 kmps, with such speeds they will be a threat in any pitches. The confidence would have been back too after this comfortable win. Their only concern is a good spinner. Krejia bowled too many short balls today to be a threat in world cup. White & Clarke hardly bowl now & david Hussey's off spin is too friendly for batsmen. Other than that there seems to be no weakness in the team.

Thank you srijshm. Australia has certainly came back to their winning ways and they are going to be a force to reckon with in this world cup also but as I have responded above I feel India will better them this time.

Australia have won the series comfortably... This has helped them find form. But, the fact remains that they were facing a single opponent... The fact that they will have to face different opponents will definitely check their consistency...No doubt that Lee and Tait are bowling quick... But, they don't have good support bowlers. This will surely hamper them...!!! There is one thing for sure, they lack the super stars like yester years... But they are not a team to be written away...(Personally I would like to erase them :D) Share your views.... Balu.

They are coming back at the right time. But it is going to be very tough to handle in sub-continental pitches in WC. Anyway they showed that they are world no1 in ODI
