i think our youngest dog is not feeling very well for 2 days now. my mother noticed that her behavior has changed since every morning when she wakes up lottie will get her favorite toy and play or will ask my mother to pat her. lately, she looks tired and always sleeps. she does not bark like she used and most especially she will no longer play before her mealtime.
it is noted that she had her period 3 days ago and i just hope that this is just because of her heating up. it is just that it is really unusual for her to be just quiet in our home when all the other 2 dogs are busy are with their normal selves.
we are hoping that this is just a phase that she will get over soon as it is really frightening to think if someting bad is going on inside of her.

Your dog is in heat and what she longs for is the attention of a male dog. The best way to avoid this is to have her fixed, this operation will lead to a much calmer pet and less worry on your part. You will then be able to take her anywhere anytime without worry that she will come into heat. She will live a longer
healtherly life. If you want puppies there are many sources already available.

hi savypat,
that is my wisest guess and i am really hoping that there is no underlying reason. i am not sure of getting her fixed though. we have a male dog in our house too and she already has his attention alright because he keeps on following her. oh, it would be wonderful to have puppies from our dogs! we haven't had any puppies in a long time! :)

Hello geonelynn,
When they are in heat, female dogs may experience a change in their disposition, as women do. But just to be sure everything is OK with her, if I were you I'd take Lottie to the vet to see if there is anything wrong with her. I hope nothing is wrong, but it is better to be sure she's healthy.
I wouldn't let her and your male dog have an offspring, as it is so difficult to find good homes for the puppies! There are plenty of unhappy dogs without a home that are longing for a loving family. If you let your dog become a mother, you ruin those unlucky dogs' chances to have a family.
Of course, you are the one to decide what's best for your dog, but please consider this before making a decision.

Have you called the vet to see what they think? I mean she is not acting herself lately and you are worried. This leaves cause for concern.
I usually call the vet and ask what they think. They tell me and if they think mine needs to be seen then I take them in. If not they tell me some things to try.
I hope your little girl feels better soon.
It's always so hard when our little ones feel bad and we are not sure what to do.
Give her lots of love and attention. She is in my prayers.
