I love to cook with shallots and garlics. Last Sunday, I wanted to buy some shallots from the local market but unfortunately I found that there were none available. I asked the sellers in the market and they told me there was a shortage of shallots lately. Some said that it was due to the bad weather in the country that produced the shallots. How is the supply of shallots in your area/country? What are the problems actually that lead to the shortage supply of the shallots?

It have been a major problem also here in Bintulu. Even the major supermarket don't have any now.
It was very worrying sign that shallot are not available. I cannot imagine not using shallot in my cooking. using onion is just not the same as using shallot. If I can find any shop selling shallot, it will be very small and old stock plus it cost RM18.00 per kg.
I try to look for alternative to get shallot such as looking for it seeds online. but it cost to much. It cost like USD15 including shipping for 150 seeds. I don't think it is worth.
I just hope the crisis will end soon.

We do have shallots and garlics in the market but are too costly. The price has jumped to so high that I now turn to ginger for cooking. I believe the bad weather in the producing country affects the shortage of these items.
