Darron Gibson

Darren Gibson scores a nice goal as Ireland beat Wales. Which leads me to my point do you think Darren Gibson is good enough enough to make the grade at Manchester United or will he be a player who gets tired of sitting about waiting for his chance and move on. Gibson I believe has some good attributes but I'm not sure he will stick around myself as he has so much competition around him with most of the midfield having more experience of first team football than he has himself. So what do you think does he need to move on or should he be patient as he has a potential future at United?

Actually he is another of the current set of Man U midfielders who will are good but not really good enough to walk into any Man U starting XI. Gibson is good to fill in for a few matches here and there, but whatever I have seen so far does not convince me that he can start for them every game. He does seem to have that Paul Scholes quality of scoring goals from just outside the box, but does not have his hussling presence. Also, he is not a great playmaker, so in a nutshell, I am not sure that he is a good enough to make the grade at Man U. Cheers! Ram

I tend to agree with you on this but I'm hoping he's one of those players who needs a number of games before we see his full ability you just have to look at number of players who have struggled and then become brilinat or consistent. Ronaldo was and example he wasn't great when he came to United he had potential but it took time for him to live up to it. Nani another example while no in the same class as Ronaldo he is not at least consistent when he plays. Fletcher is another player who didn't become a first team member until he about a season or two ago.

Now that you mention Fletcher, I think Gibson could become another player like him. So he can become a derby specialist and a person who can play in some specific type of matches. But, for one thing this kid has some time to develop, so let's see how he matures out. Cheers! Ram

Yeah that's what I'm hoping will happen with him as his long range goals are quite nice so if he could improve his all round game and become a regular he may be able to offer goals from midfield which is always a nice weight lifted of the forward players. Yes your right though he still has some time could just depend on his patience and determination to succeed at United though.

Too early to talk about Gibson. Give him more chances to prove himself. Maybe that will help to know if he is better or not. The United midfield is an aging one. Giggs, Scholes are on the brink of retirement. They need quality midfield players and that can be achieved only if you give the younger ones more playing time.

This is true he might prove himself once Giggs and Scholes retire as he will have more opportunities.
