Why the heck I end up in this Industry.....

I'[m still wondering why the heck I end up in an industry that I dont like for 6 years, Oh It is going to be 7 in just few months. With my educational attainment I might end up as a factory worker so thats why i cant leave this Job. Many people who finished college in my country wants to have the Job I want. Actually before this Job accepts high-school grads ( I lied on my resume though) but now they prefer college level people. I have no plans of going back to school, Unless its film school but moneywise, its not enough. To call center agents here, Why are we torturing our selves mentality by talking to angry Americans on phone every night.I'm just ranting because I felt stranded here,I'm not the man I dreamed to be when I was a kid. The payment is decent, I cant deny that... I just never felt older than my age. --------- Career moves I can do in my own country: 1.Lower paying Jobs-Heck no!!! 2.Enter the funeral industry-This industry pays higher but I just realized It wont work because I fear my mortality. 3. Go to college-Being 25 year old guy with teenage classmates would be nightmarish,i cant stand teenagers. 4. be a chef like my dad- he is grumpy and most chefs are grumpy to their families, i dont want to be like that. 5. Study plumbing or welding for an easy ticket to Australia-.....considering, since its a short course 6. BUy cows and pigs and try to have my own farm them......I'm not a farmboy

Hay...I can relate. I am also in the job that I don't want to be in since I was young. Now, I am making plans on how to escape in this world that I am with. I have my dreams too and I want to reach them but I don't have enough support form my family.

For me, I just want to build my parents a house and start a business that will ensure their living. As for now, I still have to sacrifice.

I have to say I agree with you I have been working in a call center for years and why I ended up there or how I don't really know and yea it can be stressful at times!! So I feel your pain of all the stress that goes along with the stupid so called quota thing!! Not every one in this world is willing to say yes to something to what ever it you are selling they are not stupid enough to buy unless your at a retail store! L.O.L And even the quotas with setting appointments!! Come on!! I have always told the people that hired when when my numbers are low geton the da... phone yourself if you think it is so easy!! And guess what? They never have the B...lls to do it!! Once I am let go from where I am or I end up moving on and walking out the door, I will never step foot on another call center EVER!!!! It is where I am working now ion a stupid call center and I am tired!! Just like you are, I would rather hang up clothes in a retail store all day long!! No quotas there!! L.O.L.

Well it is truly torture!! I was working in one call center for 5 years and I am in the U.S.A. and we at first worked 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. but never got out of there sometimes until 9 p.m. and 6 days a week and when I first started there it was 7 days a week!! Then when we started calling Scotland and the U.K. We had to go in at 5 a.m. and leave at 3 p.m. 6 days a week but they shut down! Now I have been at this one for almost 2 years! I am really ready for a change if I only could find something to do at home I would love it!! No boss!! No quota!! No having to listen to rude people all day I would feel like I could actually breathe again!!

thats not all, the more you get promoted, The more your job gets more torturing. Plus I work at night because my clients are Americans and I have tom adapt to their timezone. Its six years of torture.

I was passionate about certain things but there are so many hurdles and that makes me feel stranded. If I will follow my passion, I will die of hunger. So survival gets in first. i was saving money though in hopes of having the life I really wanted.

They are too many graduates coming out of colleges every year and there are too little jobs chasing too many graduates. So you can't be choosy. Any job is better than being jobless.

Thats why I stick to this JOb no matter how much I hate it, How many High-school graduates were given a chance for a corporate Job? for sure I got lucky because I never stepped to college, i was thankful to the opportunity because many college graduates have no Jobs. Though I cant deny I hate this Job. Its obvious I have no escaape in this situation. I rather stick to this job that I hate than be jobless.

Have you looked at other options for going back to school, but without all the hassle of studying with teenagers? Just asking because I wasn't aware of all the opportunities until I did some investigation - then I found quite a number of colleges offering education online, long-distance, low-frequency, evening classes and so on. These are tailored for people who are employed - so no teenagers, thank god Maybe there are some similar options for you too, but you haven't stumbled upon them yet. I like going back to school - I got my diploma 12 years ago, but I keep going back to take one semester in a different area every now and then, and still hope I will major in another specialty before turning 40. It's good to give my mind something to focus on, other than work, even if it's useless, at least it's disciplined learning, exams, assignments, all the fun stuff, but without the pressure. (Because, seriously, what are they going to do to me if I fail an exam? Ground me? )

I might put that in consideration since I wanted a career change but I dont want to go to school. I mean teenage girls are jail baits and Teenage boys are the most annoying creatures ever stepped in this planet, Plus teenagers as a whole are just hard to live with. Studying at home seemed like an interesting and lucrative option. ANother issue of mine about school, I hate freaking Math.... I dont want to solve a problem or an equation ever again, even with calculators or formula written on the board.
