What are your views about wearing clothes a few times before washing?

I know people who say they wear their clothes and wash it after or put it in the dirty laundry but I think that's a waste. Clothes doesn't get dirty easily unless you're doing something active and sweat (then I understand wearing them once to toss in the dirty laundry is fine) but personally, I may wear my jeans 2 or 3 times, my shirt 1 or 2 times, jackets/coats 3 or 4 times prior to washing. How about you? This saves water, time and etc.

Well, I have a bit of a strange approach so don't mind me, but: I spend a lot of time at home, where I'll wear the same clothes for ages. When I go out, I'll throw more or less the same clothes on pretty well every day for weeks on end. One thing I am a bit finicky about is dropping my clothes on the floor. That will persuade me to wash clothes far sooner than whether they have been dirtied by me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not dirty or anything; I wash every saingle day. I'm just a bit slack when it comes to washing clothes.

That's single day...sorry. yes, I'm hygenic; I just have a blond spot when it comes to washing clothes.

depends on what season it is here in Canada but during the winter i will wear something more than once but not normally during the summer I agree that it saves water plus wear andtear on your clothes. (so it makes them last longer!)

I'll wear my jeans more than once but I don't wear anything else more than once. I refuse to wear shirts more than once. I think those get a lot dirtier, especially in my line of work. As long as I'm not spilling anything on my pants and I haven't gotten anything on them then I don't worry about wearing my pants more than once.

I agree on you with that. Especially here in California. We are not sweating and the place is clean so it is just a waste of water, detergent, fabric conditioner, electricity if you wash your jean, shirts, jacket after using them once. But never do that on under wears and socks, that will be gross. :)

I used to wear my jeans 2 or 3 times before I put it in the dirty laundry bin but now that I had a baby, I cannot stand to wear my jeans more than once before I send it to the laundry. I do not know if I just became an obssessive compulsive about jeans or if the chemistry of my body changed. Aside from the jeans, I never wear my clothes more than once before I toss it in the dirty laundry maybe because it is very humid in our country which makes me perspire a lot. I believe it boils down to whatever makes you comfortable.

I agree with your last point saves water , time.... But saving water we are having different methods why we would also prepare this.Washing the shirt daily is good.Jeans we can put for 2 r 3 days that is not a problem..

I only wear my shirts once because i sweat a lot. But my jeans, i got to wear them 2-3 times, though that depends. If i went to wet market with that jeans, i toss them the next day. some wet market's smell stick to my jeans so wearing them again would be unhygienic. when i'm only in the office where it's airconditioned, i wear them twice or thrice.

I usually not washing my jeans everytime I wear it, I wash it every once in a while or if the jeans get spotted or dirty. And, I think the jeans look little better when they get worn for times. I wash the shirts that I wear everyday but not dresses or skirts.

I used to wear my pants twice before washing, but now I wash them after use along with other clothes. I reuse coats a couple of times. I do the same thing with sleeping clothes or house dress, but everything else, I put them in laundry.

hello infatuatedbby! It's alright to wear jeans for 2 to 3 times, however, for some clothes, you just have to wash them right away for hygiene purposes. Even if its clean outwardly, the bacterias and germs that may have clung to your clothes when you sweated or those which was blown onto it by wind and dust, which you cannot see with your naked eye will make it smelly. No use contracting skin diseases due to such practice of not washing your clothes often.

I think it is fine. I see nothing wrong with it. Clothes are washed when dirty right? So if they are still clean, I see no reason for it to be washed. Where I am, we wash clothes using our hands. We do not use machines. So less clothes to wash would mean less effort for us. We could do so many things than washing clean clothes. Another thing is the color of clothes. Almost all of what I wear is black. Every time it dries up under the sun's heat, it loses its color. So less number of times it would be washed would mean its use would be longer.

Usually I wear my clothes once then put them in the laundry basket, but sometimes I can wear them twice. It depends on the kind of clothes and how long I wore them. For example, if I just wore jeans for a 2 or 3 hours then they are still clean, I do wear them for the second time. The same is with jackets.

well, i think under wear should be replace daily, for our personal hygiene, and i guess washing some clothes often can actually damage the fiber and some design on it, so wearing those kind of clothing and some sensitive clothing brand are ok

Agreed...it depends on what it is. But most of my clothes I only wear once. My jeans/pants get too stretched out by the end of the day to wear again. They're no longer comfortable so I have to shrink them back to fit. And shirts...I'm terrible about spilling things on my shirt so wearing them more than once is rarely an option! But the clothes I wear around the house I usually only wear for a few hours a day so they get "recycled." Sweatshirts also, wear for a few times and wash them.

I can't believe what I'm hearing here. I could never ever wear clothes more than once before washing. I will not wear dirty clothes. You might not think they are dirty after wearing them once but get that microscope out. Also after you bathe, how could you put those dirty clothes back on?

Me too. I wear my clothes about 2 or 3 times if I just stay at home and don't do any sweaty activities. But if I go out even for just half a day then I wouldn't wanna wear my shirt again but I may have to re-wear my jeans/shorts depending on how soiled they become. It does saves time and energy. Plus, it helps prevent the clothes from becoming old from washing too often :)

It actually depends on many other factors too. If you keep yourself clean you can certainly wear clothes a few times before washing. It also depends on the place you are living. The place where we live is surrounded by streets, roads, railroads etc. It is quite expected that in such a place there will be more dusts and smoke. This is not good for clothes either. I have to keep everything covered. If I forget to cover my computer for a few days thick dust will be deposited on it. Such is the place I live in. To make things worse there is an industrial area near by. This adds up to the already polluted environment. No wonder we need to wash our stuffs more frequently. However, I can wear my jeans up to 6 times before sending it to laundry.

Well i do the same as you do. Wear jeans and pants more and shirts kinda less. I can save water and time also as u already mentioned. I find it hard to al the time wash clothes just because i have already worn them once. My mom wants me to wash clothes everyday but that is actually easier said than done right? Cheers!

i agree with you all the way. I would usually smell the blouse of my uniforms when i have used them once. Since it is fully airconditioned at the office and i don't sweat and it has no smell, i would just hang it so i could use it on the next day it was assigned to be used. (we have 2 sets of uniform) For the skirt, which is black i would also just hang and air it and use it again. On weekends, i would have them washed. Denims, like you i would have it washed after 2-3 uses. For blazers, it would just be washed on a weekly basis.
