Hi guys, especially Filipinos out there! Would like to ask if postal IDs are accepted by the DFA in processing your passports? Looked into their websites but it is not indicated. Thanks.

Laminated ID's such as Postal ID is unfortunately not accepted at DFA. When I applied for a passport I applied online and received a confirmation email with the appointment date on it a week ago. It's actually the same thing when you go on a travel agency, because they will apply online as well. And I even applied for a rush passport also, but I still need to wait for atleast 10 or 12 days for me to received my passport.

yeah, already went to DFA. They accepted my postal though, w/ supporting docs and supporting digitized ID w/ my maiden name maybe that's why. I also asked for expedite processing but sadly they have lots of pending passports to produce and they said that they only offer regular processing for the meantime.

Hi I think they do not accept a postal ID in DFA. My parents are also trying to renew their passport and I looked at the website and did not see any postal ID indicated there. Try other identification cards.

Hi, they do (well for married women not sure w/ the other). As long as you have supporting docs w/ you. I presented my postal ID (married name) and marriage cert. I also presented my digitized SSS and Voter's ID (maiden name) and it went smoothly, no prob at all.

Hello staria! Last month, me and my daughter had an appearance at DFA for our passports and it's all done, we will just wait for its release. We have an agent and the travel agency processed it. I've submitted my postal i.d to the agency but when d day of our appearance came, the agent said my postal i.d is not accepted (i haven't met with the agency and or my agent until the day of the appearance since the location of the agency is far from us, my aunt made me submit our papers and she took it to the agency). All i have on that time is my SSS id with my maiden name on it, the agent said, yes it's accepted. Quickly, she asked me to get a photocopy of it. Then we proceeded to the window, behind it was the DFA officer checking our papers, he just checked the papers while praying hope everything will be fine. To my relief, next step is passport picture taking.

HI again! thank you for the best response, appreciate it! But i really like to help you because i have been in your situation before. I see you are from the Philippines also. If i may suggest, you drop by the nearest travel agency in your place, inquire to them about getting a passport. Maybe they could help you out. Goodluck! Hoping every thing will end up positively.

Wow! Good for you! :) I just don't understand the point of actually asking for rush passports when you have to wait for two agonizing months just to appear there at DFA! That's my problem too, I only got my postal ID bearing my maiden name, I haven't had my SSS ID changed yet, cause SSS is quite far here in my place and it also took me a year to get my previous SSS ID. Bad thing is, when I got it I am already married and I have not make any use out of it since.

Hi rrowenaa, thanks for your generosity. To update you, I already went to the DFA (1st wk Apr) and they honored my marriage cert. Whew! What a relief! I recently started a discussion about DFA, w/ the on-going process, I would not suggest people going to travel agencies anymore. They are asking for a large sum of money. The DFA is now serving the people really fast! And I'm truly happy w/ my experience w them :)

As far as I know they are accepted unless the postal ID is not expired..

Ouch! My cousin get his passport on jan. 28 and he used postal ID only. My auntie also that traveling to macao. used postal ID also to get her passport. How come that they are not accepted at this time... Complain to the post master about the case. So, they may written a notice notifying the DFA to comply under the rule of law... DFA should not reject it. Because they are inter agency of the government...

Here in the US it is quite the opposite where as we can apply for new passports but when it comes to renewals and name changes they cannot. Best of luck and hope you get yours resolved.

Nope. Postal Id cannot be used for processing new passports. It can only be used as support when you renew your passport.

Actually that's the only ID that I have bearing my married name. I have SSS but in my maiden name and voter's too. OMG, did not expect, called DFA hotline and my appearance is scheduled for another 2months! What's the point of ordering a rush passport?? :s I need help!! Huhu!!
