Angry at my Internet Service Providers

My internet connection was off for three days!!!!! I go crazy without internet connection. And this is the second time in two weeks!!!
Let me rant about my frustrations here, if you don't mind. You are allowed to add anything or comment....
Background:
I have a Leased Line connection for our family business, so I pay a good amount of money for internet. It is necessary for the business to have a seamless internet connection, that is why I am paying good money for the Leased Line. My internet connection goes like: Line from the ISP goes into their adaptor (like a modem), which was then connected to a router (I used CISCO router), which is then connected to Netgear Firewall, which in turn distribute the connection to different computers.
Problem:
When I got up on Monday morning, I tried checking my email, found the internet was off. Did everything I normally do, check the modem, router, wires, etc. etc. When nothing works, I called Reliance (the service provider). My complaint was lodged. I waited the whole day for someone to come and check out. Two engineers finally turned up at 5pm, spent 5 minutes looking at the modem and the router, then told me, the line is working fine, it is internal problem, probably the router. I asked them if they would wait 2 minutes while I called CISCO engineer to see what he has to say (CISCO came and repaired the whole unit 2 weeks ago). They said they cannot wait as they have to go to another customer.
I called CISCO service center, but they were unable to come that day as it was already late, but told me they would come the next day.
I was already quite angry at this point as that means I am not going to have internet at night and probably half of the next day.
Then, CISCO engineer came at 11am the next day, took a look at the router, checked it, and then said, 'No, the router is fine, it is the Reliance line which is down'
Called back Reliance, told them what Cisco told me. Then they sent another engineer, who again said, 'It's the router, not the line'. Asked him to wait while I called CISCO, and wait longer for Cisco to send someone. Together, they messed around for 2 hours or so, then Voila, internet's back on.
Happily, we said our goodbyes, thanking them profusely.
Two minutes after they left, internet down again.
I asked Reliance, repeatedly I might add, to give me their own router - I have been promised that since the last time this kind of problem happened two weeks ago. They still haven't given me the router.
Now I am forced to get a broadband connection from BSNL as a back up. It is crazy that I spend more than $300 a month for the leased line and then have to get a back up connection (at a much lower cost, but still) from the service provider I had left 4 years ago because of poor customer service.
Now my connection is back on, but I have to unplug some computers as the engineers think that might be the cause.

I have had very bad experience with Internet. I have tried almost every connection available in India. Ten years ago I was using BSNL dial up connection. It was painfully slow. Then I switched over reliance through mobile. Again it was slow. All mobile connections are slow. Tried Tata indicom but that too is good for nothing. I tried Airtel, aircel, and tata mobile connection. I switched over to sify broadband. At 256 kbps it gave a satisfactory service, but one problem was that during power cuts the connection did not work though my PC used to work on inverter. I obtained an additional connection from Tikona. It is the most hopeless service I came across. Within few days it stopped working. I made several complaints but they never had the courtesy to reply back. Finally, instead of sending a technician they sent a sales executive. He informed me that since there is some issue with society about installation they are unable to give me service, but the issue will be resolved soon and my connection would be restored. I waited patiently and finally approached the secretary of the society to know what this is about. He told me there is no issue and he too has tikona connection which is working fine. The fact was that they hardly used the connection and whenever they used it was working alright for them; whereas, I was using internet connection extensively. One day I found I was unable to log on. I vehemently complained but there was no response. I disconnected the modem and kept it aside. I bought an EVDO from BSNL. This too was working at 1x speed instead of promised 3.1 mbps speed. I bought MTS and this connection too was good for nothing. Meanwhile I received a fat bill from Tikona for services not given. I made a final settlement with them after paying fifty percent of the amount. Even after making the final settlement and after being given a receipt for it Tikona customer care kept pestering me for the bill. Finally I gave them a mouthful and fired off a mail to their CEO. Nevertheless, I hope to get more call from them because they do not update their account. Now I have reliance netconnect. I find it better than other EVDOs. So far it has given me trouble free service.

You really do exhausted the list of providers then...
I have used BSNL broadband 5 years ago, which was working fine, apart from the fact that the phone line keeps getting cut off, especially during the kite festival, and it takes time for them to repair it. Sometimes it goes so slow that I cannot make calls on Skype. The main reason I get leased line. I started with TATA Communications and their customer service is the worst that I've seen. And so is their organizational skill. I have terminated the service by phone and when they keep sending me bills for two months even after termination of the service, I emailed them and called them as well. That did not stop the bills. Finally, they sent me a huge bill, and when I showed them the email terminating the service and the letters, etc. they decided to drop it. They then sent me a settlement bill which showed as them owing me money. I called them up again and asking them what is the meaning of that, and they said 'Yes, we do owe you that money, but it is adjusted against your previous invoices'. I told them there are no previous invoices, all the invoices have been paid full, and my security deposit has to be refunded. But by that time, I was just happy to get out. So I told them, alright, keep the money. I still get calls from time to time, like every 4/5 months. And when they call, I just tell them, 'I am very sorry. It must be a mistake. We do not use any Tata Communication Service in this address'

I hate when I have problems with my internet service. I used to have bad times with it as well, I use Verizon, when I first have it set up, it always got disconnected, almost like every other week or more. I had to call and had them to look and they didn't usualy come the next day but next week or so; that made me so mad theough the times.

I can't imagine going without an internet for a week. Had it not been solved on the third day, I would have gone out and get myself those USB type. The truth is, our business depends on it. We have customers from all over the world and when they cannot get in touch with us or hear from us, they lose their confidence.
On a personal not, I miss my online earning things and networking like myLot and Facebook, and my farmville in FB...lol

Oh wow, so sorry to hear all this as I too had issues with my internet, up until last week, as it was down in my entire area for 9 days. I know what you are saying with regards to being dependent on the internet as I work online networking and due to the outage I lost several assignments.
During the entire nightmare my ISP was so useless, as if one hand would not talk to the other and I as the customer did not matter. I too pay a fortune for my service and felt so neglected the entire time, not to mention the additional costs and loss of work.

Yeah, it is so frustrating. Especially with our business, we rely almost entirely on Internet. We have our customers calling on our mobile and shouting at us that they haven't received the emails from us regarding the product shipment, or change in design, etc etc.
My frustration is nothing compared to the customers'. lol. I was just bored not being able to do the things and well, being unable to get the information the next second.... stuff like that.
Seriously, the loss of business is what makes it worse.
