Airport Security Searches

OK...I am going to post something here that is going probably going to make some people mad, but I really don't care. I am tired of hearing about this. I am tired of people not wanting to submit to airport security searches, whether they be by X-RAY machine, or by a good old-fashioned frisk search. I just saw, and commented on, a picture on here that showed a little old lady being searched by airport security, and the person who posted the picture was obviously protesting the searches. SO...here is my question for you...Would you rather them frisk "grandma", or would you rather be on the plane that "grandma" blows up? Don't blame the airlines for their security procedures. It is their job to try to make sure that you get to your destination safely. If searches of this nature are what it takes to prevent another 9/11 from happening, then be glad that the airlines are willing to take the extra steps to try to guarantee your safety. If you want to blame someone for the added security procedures that have been deemed necessary, blame the muslim terrorist who planned and carried out the 9/11 attacks. After all, THEY are the reason that airport security has come to this, and the muslim terrorists who want to carry out more attacks are the reasons that these security measures are still necessary. Now, let me say that not all muslims are terrorists. I don't want to be accused of profiling. There are other non-muslim terrorist organizations out there. Timothy McVeigh, the man who carried out the SECOND most destructive terrorist attack on American soil, was NOT a muslim. He was inspired by a book called THE TURNER DIARIES, which was written by a man who was a "white nationalist" and a supporter of the NAZI party (yes the Nazis are still around). His attack on the Federal Building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on April 19, 1995, was a retaliatory strike against the deaths at the "Branch Davidian" compound in Waco, Texas, on April 19, 1993, and for the lesser-known Ruby Ridge incident in 1992, which I will not go into the details of. The Oklahoma City bombing was EXACTLY 2 years from the Branch Davidian siege, and the bomb in Oklahoma City exploded at the same time the attack on the Branch Davidian compound had started on that day two years earlier. SO...I told you all that to tell you THIS...not ALL terrorists are muslims, which is exactly why these security procedures are still necessary. You never know who the people on your plane are affiliated with, or what they may be planning to do because they are pissed off about something. It may or may not be a muslim terrorist that decides to blow up the plane that you or your family members happen to be on. While "grandma" may not be a muslim, she MAY be an American who is sympathetic to the Nazis (or some other cause), and may be mad about something going on with them, just as Timothy McVeigh was mad about the Waco, Texan incident. You never know what is going on in the mind of someone else, or what they are capable of doing. You don't have to be a muslim or a thirty-year old American man to build a bomb or smuggle a gun or some other weapon onto a plane with the intent to do harm... If you do not want to be subjected to these searches, the solution is simple...DO NOT FLY. Stay home, keep your mouth shut, and stop making it harder on those of us who do not mind the added security features. Now that you know my opinion...let's hear yours...

I totally agree!!!! I have flown a lot. I still do when I get a chance. My husband flies in and out of this country every 2 -3 months. I have a medical device implanted in my body that does not allow me to go through that machine. So I have to go through a hand-body search which requires them to touch every part of my body. Yes, I said every....part...of my ...body. It is humiliating. Evry airport I got to this happens. Every country...it happens. The way ir goes is they pick one or two people to search by hand per flight, not bad right? The rest go throught the machine. It's not bad, you just walk through...as long as you do as requested and make sure you have no metal on you....no underwire in bra...no belt, no key, no change, no cell phone, etc. you have no problem! It is no big deal!!! I'd rather go through what I go through EVERY TIME I FLY than to have a bomber or terorrists threaten the way I live!!!!!

Well that is basically what it comes down to. Would you rather get searched or risk dying? LOL

You got it. I usually don't even respond to these discussions because the bother me with everyone going on all the time about the security and being searched when they fly. The thing is I don't think even 3/4 of them have ever even flown or they would not even be saying anything. They would know if they had that only 1 person maybe 2 per flight is chosen to be searched. I mean cone on people....get off of the complaining band wagon!! Walking through that x-ray machine ...there is nothing to it... you walk through...like walking through a door way. That's it! They go on about something they know nothing about. Yes, some of them do, but some don't.

"Walking through that x-ray machine ...there is nothing to it... you walk through...like walking through a door way. That's it! Does your doorway hit you with ionizing radiation that could potentially damage your DNA? "They go on about something they know nothing about." I know about the 4th amendment of the constitution. Allow me to enlighten you. "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

I can tell you that I was subjected to full body search and exposing me to the public, this last November and it was not fun. I did not resist as I knew that although it was done improperly, that my safety was of concern. I would travel again even if it meant searching me again. I only wish they do not treat us like if we are the enemy though.

I am very keen on traveling to different countries. I flew on a return flight from London to Cartagena De Indias in Colombia via Madrid and Bogota. I don't mind the security measures because these days they are necessary. I had my baggage x-rayed and they were interested in my kids drinks for the flights. It was so funny on the way back home I had to go through passport control and security twice at Madrid Airport. All I went to do was buy more diapers. A terrorist could look like anyone and so security want to be sure everyone are safe. When I arrived at the airport in Israel I had in mind checking in for my flight. However there were lines of people waiting for personal interview. I got to the front of the line sometime later and the questions made me nervous. The man got suspicious and yet I am an innocent traveler. I got taken away to a room where they did a very detailed indeed search of my baggage. Of course they didn't find anything worrying and let me go. I almost missed my flight. That is a country where they often deal with suspected bombs. I miss being able to take bottles of drinking water with me through security. At Bogota Airport I had an empty water bottle, found a fountain and filled it up. This gave me a lovely cool drink before my flight to Madrid. Even in a duty free shop bottled water can be pricey. I think more water fountains should be available. Drinking water before and during the flight is healthy.

Tain't the airlines, it's the government. And yeah, I'd rather put up with it. Though if they insist on frisking one of my children, I'm going with them!!!

I am not against allowing parents, spouses, or friends in the room while the searches are done. In fact, I would almost recommend it in most cases.

I would submit myself to a search if I was going to fly to ensure my own safety as well as the safety of other people that I was going to be flying with. The problem that I do have with it, however, is that they don't seem to really want to do the touchy, feely searches and there are a lot of cases where that is the safest alternative because of radiation, etc. My children would be hand searched and I would also make the same decision if I was a pregnant woman. There should be a separate line for the people that make that decision in my opinion.

How does them searching YOU make you or anyone else safer? Are you afraid that you are carrying bombs you need them to find for you?

With so much going on in our world day by day, we really shouldn;t be surprised at more airport searches. When we try to refuse this, it just makes it look like we have something to hide. If everyone would give more coppeartion, it wouldn't seem like such a struggle.

you go golden...i for one dont mind the searches if i absolutely have to fly. in fact it scares me that some things have STILL gotten by with the searches. Im like you, if they dont want searched, either stay home, drive or what the heck ever.
