I know it uses gas and electric power, but what I am wondering is where does it get the energy for the electric power. I think it uses the battery, but won't you have to recharge it every night? Wouldn't that cost more money? And if you don't recharge and you want your car to run on battery power won't it run out of power within a week?

Hybrid cars are energy efficient. I honestly don't believe it would cost to much to keep the battery charged and you probably wouldn't have to keep it plugged in all night, maybe just a couple of hours to give it a complete charge. Maybe you would have to plug it in every night. It's just like people...we have to eat everyday for energy.

hybrid Electric cars work by having an electric motor and a gas motor the electric motor being smaller than the gas on but these cars generally weigh a lot because on top of having a normal battery generally in the back of them they also have 2 larger batteries that are Ion Lithium. So you asked a good question why don't you have to recharge said batteries. Well the car moving charges the batteries when you go down hill it will actually run the Electric motor backwards to re charge the batteries it does the same thing when you break. The Battery is being charged through going down hill and breaking. This is because when you run an electric motor backwards it creates a small charge the energy it gets to to this is from gravity or you pressing on the break. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hybrid_vehicle

Hey Mark98, Right now the Car I want is the Toyota Prius, its 50mpg which is awesome haha. I wonder the same thing you did since the Toyota had a Solar panle on the roof of the Car I thought thats how it charges the battery durng the day. But it doesnt It uses it to cool the car down on Hot Days and on cold to warm it lol. I found how it recharges its battery, Well the Toyota Prius is with the Brakes every time you step on the breake you are bring back power to the battery. It works enough to keep the car running without pluging it into a outlet. I think Most Hybrids right now our both electric and gas they are working on making one on only electric and they do have some but they are pricy and they dont run fast and the battery can only last for so long. So to me more technology needs to be done to make the Perfect or the First First GOOD! Electric car that is worth the money haha
