Just curious what the best thing to do if you come face to face with a black bear is. Just stand still? I've heard it's a bad idea to run...

Hello Mark, I also heard that the best thing to do when you come face to face with a bear is to try to stay calm and to remain still. Anyway, when I came face to face with a bear (it wasn't a black bear, as black bears don't live in my country, but it was a big brown bear ) I couldn't do anything. I was blocked: I couldn't think, I couldn't move any more. I remained like that for a few moments, until the bear smelled the air and left. Luckily he didn't come close to me, it was somewhere at about 2 or 3 meters away from me when we met and my presence didn't stir his interest.

Hmmm, I think we're just suppose to stand still and be very quiet. Maybe it would be a good idea to have picnic food :)

Well they say that you should remain calm and composed. They say you should not run and panic. But it is very hard to do this when your facing a large animal. I suggest you don't go wondering around the woods by yourself.

I think running is the most terrible idea. If you come face to face with a black bear, you should keep slient and dont move
