What keeps you fit?

I am now older, but i still have a fit body.
Maybe it runs in our gene , because all of us siblings have some added poundage since when we were younger , but still we are still on the leaner side.
But i for myself, maybe it's because i exercise for a minimum of 1 hr. at least 3x a week. In addition , my job requires me to go around the mall , to see if our franchised stores are getting lots of customers or is cleanliness maintained. I do always take the stairs just to go to the other floors of the mall. I also walk for at least 5 minutes, just to go to the main road, where i could take my jeepney ride and same when i go home in the afternoon. I walk fast, so maybe i burn some calories. On Sundays, i do some general cleaning at home. I do household chores in the evening and in the morning as i prepare breakfast. I move a lot.
For you guys, what keep you fit?

Hi dear SimplyD ! I too think many people inherit the genes responsible to keep them fit! But then this genetic factor also need to be given proper environmental conditions to express its effects to the maximum, which you are aptly doing it.
from your discussion one can definitely make out that you are doing pretty good amount of exercise . One hour a day and three times a week is good amount of work for a person who is already having lot of physical work while on job. You are spending good amount of time in your Mall by taking physical activity. You walk fast also, so all these are the factors helping you to keep fit!
For me I am working on a Stud farm and this makes me to walk at least few Kilometers per day, apart from this examining the horses requires lot of strength and some activities like examining the horses for pregnancy and breeding requires lot of calories to burn and some times I need to check as many as 40 horses per day. Perhaps this thing keeps me quite fit.Walking from paddock to paddock also i a good exercise! When ever I go to malls or any other places I prefer to climb the staircase instead of taking Escalator or a lift! but sometimes for my wife i resort to these two things.
I try to work for myself at home.like fixing electrical fittings like fans, bulbs or chandeliers or cleaning some things/gadgets which requires some attention, this type of activity also helps me in burning out some calories.
Unfortunately I don't get time to have a routine exercise as I have a irregular and hectic schedule on the farm , to have a regular exercise. But one thing is quite sure that I get tired like a working donkey by the time I go to my bed which indicates that I have had enough of physical exercise making me really tired !
Thanks dear friend for the discussion! Iliked participating in it! All the best!

Wow your work really requires a lot of physical exertion from you. That alone is enough as an exercise and you really don't need them anymore.
For myself, it seems that going around the mall isn't enough yet. At my age, i need to do dome cardio, strength training and aerobics to cover all the aspects of my body.
It is said that one way of delaying aging is exercise. So i exercise always.

I am older too!
But I started running a couple of years ago just to cope with a situation. I now am training for a half marathon and then I hope to do a full marathon. (I have to go slow bc I'm old
) But that and taking care of my son who is handicapped burns a lot of calories!

Older doesn't mean we cannot join what you are training at. Remember, activities like that are anti-aging tactics too.

Although I've attemted to get fit through many failed new year's resolutions, I find that I don't really have a drive for it. Luckily, I was also skinny when I was young. So even if I've added a few pounds, I'm still relatively skinny.
It is also through my job that I get to burn some calories. My job takes me through a manufacturing floor that I have to go through several times a day.

It's nice to have a job that could really make you move a lot also. Had i been just doing a typical clerical work, then i would have been sitting all day and maybe would not be as fit as i am today.
