hi friends.world cup days are numbered andit would be the better time to start this discussion. like telling your one favourite world cup moment and one forgettable world cup moment. my unforgettable moment is quite easy. it would the 2003 world cup final where all the hard work got squandered at the finals for india.everyone failed with bat and ball and one man stole the show. as for my favourite one,i might go for 1983 finals but since i was not even born then,i would go for the 2003 world cup match between india and england where one man started bowling in the 140's and surprised the englishmen. dawn of the age when every fast bowler wanted to bowl in the 140's .

Dear Stardust, I too have a couple of favorite World Cup moments. Both these involve India and Pakistan. The first one, was in the 1996 World Cup. This was when Venketesh Prasad bowled Amir Sohail the very next ball, after Amir Sohail had a word with Venki....The moment was so exhilarating, after the way they were thrashing the Indian bowlers. Actually he just missed a straight ball, but the moment, the atmosphere, the wicket made a made a big impact. I don't think such a moment will ever happen again. The second, was Sachin Tendulkar hitting a 78 ball 97 against Pakistan in 2003 World Cup. The highlight of the match was Sachin hitting Shoaib for a six over point. For me that decided the match...!!!! Wishing to see more of such moments this world cup for India... GO India Go....!!!!!! Share Your Views, Balu

Of course my favourite moment in the world cup is from the 2003 world cup.The match between India and Pakistan. The master class innings from Sachin Tendulkar single handedly brought India to a historic win.Who can forget Sachin's six of Akthar to the third man boundary.Really it was a spectacular match. And the one I want to forget among the world cup matches is that of 2003 world cup final.India played its worst innings in the tournament and that too in the final.

The moment that is still etched in my mind is the 2002 natwest series final....where the brilliance of kaif & yuvraj steered home India to their away series win....if i have to go back to one that would want to forget....it was the match india played against srilanka in 1996 world in Kolkatta where the hosts succombed to pressure from the isalnd nation ...

Hi stardust, Till mid ninety the World Cup or say any ODI s were something special but now cricket having all round the year and both day and night, most people have lost interest in it. I was still a school boy when India stole the cup in 1983 but after then India is putting up a poor story to each of the version. I am not mad after this sports event now as I used to be before. All scandal, match fixing, spot fixing, money becoming the prime concern for the players, it is all waste of time for us to sit infront of the TV for seven hours.

The only world cup I followed was 1996. I just saw one or two matches for other world cups. The forgettable moment was India losing to Sri Lanka in 1996 Semifinals in Kolkata. I still remember only Sachin scoring 65 runs and all others failing. And then Kambli returning to pavilion with tears as Match was stopped and Sri Lanka was declared as winner due to Crowd misbehavior. The favorite moment is perhaps Sachin's sixer shot against England in 2003. I don't remember the bowler but it was certainly a fantastic shot. Sad that he tried the same shot in Final against Mcgrath but played it half heartedly and got out.

The timely discussion to share the intimate moments good and bad in cricket. My most intimate moment in cricket is naturally the 1983 world cup final when India beat the mighty West Indies to clinch the title against all odds. I was not even in the country or with my friends with whom I always enjoyed discussing cricket forgetting the time factor. This moment of India's glory I was following through B.B.C. live commentary and when I could view this full match on video cassette, a few days later, it was like icing on the cake. The sad moments are many they are, when India lost in semifinals to England in W.C. 1987 when they were expected to win the match hands down, when India were all out for just 42 runs in a test match cricket in England and many more but the saddest of all must be when India lost to B.D. and could not reach the second round of the tournament in W.C.-07.
