Update to My Shatzie's Eye Ulcer

First I want to thank all of you who sent her your prayers and best wishes. I is a week today since I took her to the Vet and I was panic stricken. Thanks to your prayer and positive energy in your wishes and two more Vet visits and increasing her medication.. I notice today for the first time she does not seem to be in so much pain and is able to open her eye a little better. I am thrilled and thank the Lord for His help that it seems she may not need the surgery which was either to be stitching up the "third eyelid" or scraping the ulcer. I was petrified she would have to undergo any of these procedure. She is getting quite adept a maneuvering with the cone (Elizabethan) collar. She manages to eat and drink on her own now although she still bangs into the furniture and the door as she cannot see properly. When the Vet was trying to fit the cone collar on her she turn from the poor pitiful invalid into a raging crazy dog and bit the Vet on the lip causing it to swell and bleed. I was mortified but the Vet said it was her fault as she put her face too close to Schatzie. I will take a her a little gift to make up for Schatzie's behaviour. Any thoughts on what may be appropriate? Again that you all for your loving thoughts

A vet is probably as busy as a medical doctor so some cookies and or a coffee gift card would be nice. Thanks so much for the update and glad your Scatzie is getting better. The power of prayer is always helpful.

Hi whiteheather...poor little Shatzie. I'm sorry not to have responded to a previous discussion but I did not see it (?) I'm so pleased she is on the mend, it must be a great relief to you. I hope the little one continues to improve and recovers completely really soon. I love all the suggestions everyone offered so I'll leave it for you to choose.

That's really awesome news whiteheather! I hate it when animals are in pain. I'll do anything within my power to make it all better because the poor things don't understand why they're in pain, just that they are. They give so much to us humans and ask for so little and for them to be in pain just breaks my heart! But I'm so happy she's on the mend and yes, Thank the Good Lord above!! Amen!!

I am so glad that Shatzie is getting better. I do hope that she continues to do so and will soon be totally healed. I am sure that your vet has to keep pets occasionally overnight or may even have boarders off and on. A gift for the facility might be in order here. Perhaps food, treats, toys, newspapers for the cages, or something that will help with the overall costs of the place would be good as gifts. I know that most of the shelters are begging for these types of things so maybe your vet could use some as well. Just a thought. Give Schatzie hugs.

I'm so glad to read she's getting better and I'll keep on praying for her. It's so sad when our pets are sick or hurt, isn't it? They're so helpless and can't tell us when and where it hurts. Here's hoping that by this time next week she'll be good as new! How sweet of you to want to get your vet a gift. I'd suggest something like a gift set with hand and body lotion, body spray and maybe powder and/or body wash. I know that's something I'd always appreciate! My daughter got me hooked on "Body Fantasy Cotton Candy" which they sell at most stores like K-Mart and CVS both in sets and separately. They have other nice fragrances, too but I love the cotton candy! It's really light and fresh and doesn't make me sneeze and stuff up like lots of that kind of stuff does. Annie

hi whiteheather I am really so glad that Shatzie's eye is a lot better as that did sound so painful. For the vet how about some really good chocolates,as I have never met anyone who did not love chocolate. It might make up for the nip on the lip. lol. I was just remembering as a child I had styes on my eyes and they were so painful. then they had my eyes tested and I needed glasses. The glasses really did stop the styes so it must have been from eye strain.

Hiya Heather, Good news that too. I did not write much up to now about your little Dog. But I was thinking about her anyway. Seems like all our positive thoughts have done her good after all. Hope she recovers as soon as possible. So she won´t have to wear that Collar that they put on them. I have seen them and I know at least two Dogs that hated those Collars and they were both wearing them at the same time as one another. It did stop them from scrapping anyway.
