Some Conservative Groups are acting like 2 year olds....

American Principles Project, American Values, Liberty Counsel, and the National Organization for Marriage, are acting like spoiled 2 year olds. The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) convention starts today, sans the participation of these groups. They are boycotting the conservative convention because, for the second year in a row, the group, GOProud is an active participant and sponsor. GOProud is a group of gay conservatives. Apparently almost all of the tenets of this group would read straight out of the statements of any other conservative group, except they are against any amendments to the US Constitution that would define marriage. So, basically what they are doing is, in an effort to exclude this group, they are handing the lectern to them, without any chance to voice their own opposition. Their inability to be adult about including people they don't agree with has left them with no voice at the convention. As a side note, Sarah Palin has come out in undeviating support for inclusion of GOProud, I wonder how the Palin haters will react to this one. :~D http://dailycaller.com/2011/02/10/palin-clarifies-let-the-gays-join-cpac/

This is yet another thing that is killing the republicans. While some, like Sarah Palin apparently, are more than willing to welcome and hear from those with different lifestyles a lot of the older, entrenched politicians are too stupid to realize that groups like GOProud and Log Cabin republicans are the key to their future. This could be all for the better though. Maybe such groups will join the libertarians who want the government to stay out of marriage in the first place so gay people will stop being told that they're "supposed to be" democrats.

I've been saying all along the real tea party reps and senators (not the posers) should just leave the republican party and become Libertarians. they got elected and as long as they continue to do a decent job and support the constitution, they will be re-elected no matter what party they belong to (hopefully)

Well as much as I don't like Sarah Palin. I have to say she is right the GOP needs to be open to the different variations of the Right but as it seems that at least some realize this. While the these other groups who are social Conservatives thing that you have to be just Socially Conservative to be considered Conservative and that Fiscally Conservative but Socially Progressive Republicans must not count in their view or something. I am glad to see the Republicans are willing to let a part of the show up to the CPAC and express their views. I personally have been a supporter of the Log Cabin Republicans and well I also Support the GOProud people too. But hey if the Republicans want to destroy themselves again that's okay with me.

This isn't a group of Republicans, it is a group of Conservatives. By definition, "progressives" should play no part in the Conservative Political Action Committee. However, I do agree, all conservative groups should feel welcome.

I agree they are acting like two year olds. If ever you have the chance to plead your case, this would have been it. Maybe they have no case to plead? I figure the convention will be better with out them

Kudos to you for posting this! Both parties and all political ideologies have good, sensible and reasonable members and immature ones like those who chose to boycott this conference. I think we all, regardless of our political views, have to realize nobody gets their own way all the time in everything. Regarding Sarah Palin, I'm not sure how her "haters" will react but I'm willing to give credit where it's due. I must confess to being pleasantly surprised by her support for GOProud. Annie

We have "Big Tent" or "Log Cabin" Republicans around here, and I don't have a problem with them. Some can get a bit shrill, but I feel that they shouldn't be excluded, nor should anyone boycott something because of them. You are right, you boycott something like that you are just removing your voice from the proceedings. Like the Russians walking out of the Security Council meeting and allowing the U.N. to go into the Korean conflict... they never did it again!

It reminds me of that old adage, "cutting off your nose to spite your face". Do they think that boycotting the convention will actually affect anything? I really don't think anyone will notice they aren't there. They need to just get over it and get on with it. You're absolutely right, they are behaving like petulant children. They are also perfectly portraying the stereotype that conservatives are intolerant and by doing so, they are doing far more harm to the Republican party than they realize since most think that all conservatives are Republicans. This kind of thinking may just cause more Republicans to leave the party align with the Libertarians and that could be a good thing.
