i know the importance of days like valentines day both historical and its significance in today's world but like every coin has two sides valentines day has been affected to a lot extent by commercialization. All the branded greeting card and other goodies producing company's by there promotion are trying to interpret the importance of these special days and using them for making profits.I think intimidated by this we are losing the knowledge about the true importance of these days.what do you think???

This is the first time I have been in love on Feb 14th. I don't like receiving flowers. I don't like All the chocolates in a chocolate box. I wouldn't wear fancy jewelry and I will not eat Anything at a fancy restaurant. So I Thought Valentine's Day Wasn't for me and I Still feel that way.I don't want " what a woman's want for Feb 14th." I will not wait until Feb 14 to show my guy how much I love him and he doesn't wait either. So tomorrow I will do what I did last year. Celebrate Feb 14th for the best mob hit Ever and leave all the over priced , empty gestures to others.

Correct. With all the marketing strategies those businesses have, they made a big fuzz about it, so much so , that the real meaning is being overlooked. It's as if Valentine's day means a gift should be given by the lovers to each other, when they could just express it in some ways that wouldn't cost them a bit like a hug or just a simple walk in the park.

Well I think almost all major holidays like Christmas and New Year, occasions, festivities, even sports events and the rest are all affected by commercialization, guess it's human nature to make a buck or two or maybe occasions won't really be attractive or successful without commercialization because this is where sponsors come in. My personal opinion is we make it according to what we want to make it to be and should not feel intimidated, occasions are a personal thing so just enjoy and celebrate it the way you want.
