I think that the popularity of this kind of food is still high since it is cheap and yes it is delicious. I can not say that it is clean or dirty. For sure it looks clean but then again you really can't tell if it is not dirty. However thou, it may be the same case in restaurants. The environment is neat but you will never be certain of how the food you eat is prepared. I say that I will still be patronizing street food. It works for me and I have never been sick eating it.

hello thanks for your response, yep, you are honestly true that we don't have any idea how the foods prepared in restaurant and at the same time in streets?. But actually Marmot is have a point that if restaurant deliver a dirty food they might involve in law suits which in easy way the restaurant might close, they have a licensed which means we can trust their foods unlike in street foods . i.e one customers got sick because of the food coming from the restaurant the customers have a right to say it freely so that the restaurant will pay for the expenses of one customers, unlike in street foods even we got sick it is our choice. But as what you have said you never been got sick eating street food. thanks again.

I truly hope that this is always the case with restaurants. Sad to say that even restaurants have politics involved. Some establishments do not comply with the requirements however they are still operating. Money does lots of things. Bottom line is, people who are into this kind of business for sure loves food. I hope that there aim is to really serve what they can offer to the table and not just to earn more money.

I think most restaurants have clean food because they are licensed. If they sell dirty food and make customers sick, there will no customers at all and they may involve in law suits. So, I trust restaurants much more than street food.

Hi, Actually street foods are quite delicious and the prices are more affordable, but in term of hygiene, of course,it is not that clean enough. But I would say some restaurant also quite dirty if you were to step into their kitchen. So it is basically depend on individual on how to judge the food. If there are talking about delicious food, I would say street and restaurant food are equal. They both have their own way of delicious. Of course, for me,before I buy any street foods, I have to make sure the store looks clean and also the person that sell the food look tidy and clean,or else I won't step into that food stores.

Majority of food prepared and sold on the streets is dirty because of the location of the place. Usually, there is no clean water around and so just imagine how the food is prepared without clean water. Then there is no proper comfort rooms so the people preparing the food usually carry germs in their hands for there is no water in the first place. Then, food here is sold cheap for it is meant to be for the men on the streets. Vendors have to make a profit so they recycle oil many times and in the evening we do not know how they keep this oil, whether it's been visited by roaches, etc.

Yeah, germ is a very serious problem of street food. The seller usually make food and take money without wash their hands, so that the food must contain great many germs as money is a kind of most dirty thing in this situation.

I love street foods too, since it's cheap and very affordable, but still delicious - but I am also aware that it's not that clean. That is why I don't buy them that much since my parents don't like me buying them too.

We perceive street foods as dirty because they are being sold on the street where buses are passing by . Some don't have covers while they are on those open food containers so they might be getting all those dusts and flies. We just have to be discerning - choose those that has covers , with clean areas and the ones selling are clean themselves. Well, they are delicious , because they were made to be, so they could sell more than their competitors!

I try to steer clear from street food as much as possible. Not because I'm being squeamish or anything, but because I have had a few bouts of food poisoning already and I don't want that to happen again. Here in my country we have an abundance of street food, and my favorite so far has been the fried fishballs, chicken balls and eggs (kwek-kwek). I just do away with the sauce and I'm fine. Another favorite is taho.

Many people buy it because as you have said, it is delicious and affordable- it's very convenient for a lot of people to- since it's just on the streets and whenever you're hungry you can easily buy and eat it. But I don't think theres a completely clean and reliable street food, so I don't buy it often.

i think main reason why people entertain those street foods is because of affordable cost, famous and psychological thinking that such food are good, so through mouth talking it will pass to various mouth... but there are cautions of hepa B.. see you around

hi! not all street foods are dirty. it really depends on the one selling or cooking it. you know what, i believe that a place's delicacy can be found in the streets. it's not in the fancy restaurants.

Some of the street foods are delicious and cooked in a good way and popular. Some are not. You can see the conditions in which they cook food and you know if you should eat foods they cook. In my town, I don't even go to some small restaurants. I go to some chain restaurants.

well indeed, street foods are delicious. i have tried to eat a couple of times already. what i know about street foods is that they are sold along the streets. we cannot judge these foods as dirty automatically since we do not know where they came from or how they have been made. i think it's merely anticipating or accusing. i believe there are also street foods that are made with the right manufacturing procedures. the only thing is that they are sold along the streets where vehicles of all sorts are passing by. the smoke and the dirt coming from these passer bys can contaminate these foods they sell that's why. so if these street food vendors do not do anything to cover up such foods with necessary protection to keep the foods from smoke, dirt, dust and other passer bys such as insects, the food they sell could possibly catch some unnecessary stuff that could be taken in by the people who buy their products. these in turn can cause viral diseases or illnesses to the people. if only all vendors would think about it, not just the fact that they want to earn for a living, i believe street foods will have a better reputation. =)

I love street food. I've heard people say they're dirty but I can't stop myself from eating them. They're really very delicious ya. Maybe because they're out in the open and the smokes and pollution can get to them easily so they are called dirty.

Hi tiina, Why street food or road side food, because they are meant to be like that. The fact is that what the street food seller is open to all to see what things are like but do you know what happens behind th curtain in the big restaurants and hotels? Not because they are dirty I avoid this street food for I do not eat the kind of stuff they offer there.

Street food are dirty, yes. They are said to cause poliomyelitis to some people. Probably it depends if you know the person who is preparing the food that they sell.

I don't eat too much street food because there are too many things I can not sure about them. The ingredients, the water... I always think they are dirty. However, street food usually use more flavoring and that taste really good. So I sometime eat street food just to satisfy an appetite.
