Owning a small business can lead to some complicated and confusing times. From keeping customers happy to ordering the right supplies to balancing your finances it can be difficult to stay on top of everything. What helps you stay afloat? What would make it easier for you to run your business?

The most challenging aspect of running a business is finding reliable and dependable employees. You have to have employees who are willing to work for the benefit of the company, if you constantly have rude, hostile employees who dont want to work, then you can't run a reputable business. The employees can help make or break a business. You have to have some kind of way to keep shelving stocked. For example..our Dollar Castle was once a very busy place, people were swarming there...but road construction took away a lot of their business. Without the business and the potential revenue, it is more difficult to keep the shelving stocked and full to bring in new and returning customers. It really does take money to make money, it doesn't have to be a lot depending on the type of business you are running. Another factor is location. People want easy access to get in and out of a business parking lot. This is why places like Walmart are thriving and the little specialty shops in a downtown area are losing business.

buggles64 I want to say that you made great point by stating that it is challenging to find a good worker when one need their services to make a company grow. I want to say that sometimes it is the employer or company owner that is the cause of the problem. Many boss or office executives are not too reliable. They make most worker to work long hours and sometime they are denied their earnings. Some deny their worker promotion. They exploit worker just unnecessary. They hire and fire just because they hold the knife and the bread. To them, they feel they can get a replacement as soon as they fire a worker. How then do you expect a worker to be very devoted to a company when the boss or office executive is looking for the downfall of a worker? thanks

Depending on the line of business, there can be lots of competition in the market. One has to make the products or the services offered competitive, quality-wise and price-wise to remain strong in the market. Otherwise, the business can fail and drops out from the scene.

Hi there, Of course we would need to know what type of business are we talking about. In a sense they all need to be synchronized in every single aspect (financial, marketing, HR, operational, sales, etc). No business is so small or so big to be considered easy or difficult to run. Challenges will come everyday and all the resources mentioned above have to be administered properly. The idea is to be efficient and learn everyday that improvements can be made for the benefit of the business depending on it's vision which at the end, the idea is to make a profit.

I think the most challenging aspect of running my own business is raising start up capital. It is not easy to gather money to fund a business no matter how small you want the business to be. The second aspect, is getting the full knowledge about the business. A situation where I lack the expertise. This also affects me

I think that the main thing to make it work is to keep it simple. Things can easily get over-complicated so it is kind of an art, that of keeping it simple. In one word, slack.
